You are correct, what's taking so long is called "responsibilities". I work in retail and the Black Friday "period" (since these days it lasts from friday till monday for some reason) is the beginning of a stretch of graveyard shifts that lasts till the end of the Xmas season. To dispel any confusion though, I'll post this little nugget as evidence:

I'll limit my update to what I know right now - the firmware is updatable (in fact I got an update from the team before the cart even went "live" on their website), it uses a micro USB cable seen above, the single button was replaced with a forwards/backwards switch for easier browsing and the cartridge does break the new AP. You'll have to wait for more info as I've really haven't had the time to test things thoroughly - just be patient, the review will surely answer all your questions. :D

okidoki thats terrific so far.....thanks for sharing.......

They were not even clones, they were legit Sky3ds carts.

These people bought whole sale Sky3ds carts directly from the Sky team (like any resaller does), replaced the sticker on the cart, included a cheap DS flashcart and re-sold them as theirs.
Maybe I'm dumb, but how were they supposed to make any profit off that?

I really want to know if this piece of shit can run homebrew itself.

I doubt it though. "Compatible with other 3rd party homebrews" sounds like they're being vague on purpose. They'll just tell us to use Ninjhax.

There's no menu so how are we supposed to use homebrew? Also, the nature of the Sky3DS+ card doesn't make it possible to run homebrew.

Every Sky3ds costed anywhere from $90-$120 to the end user when they came out, they made profit because they bought them at whole sale price and adding a crappy DS flashcart enticed a lot of users to "get a QQ3DS over a Sky3ds" so they would move more merchandise than other resellers.

You make more money by selling a 100 lemons a day at $4 each than selling 50 lemons a day at $6 each, do the math.

That's the logic behind it, less profit per unit sold vs more profit over time.

yeah maths all good and well .......a lot of good info on gbatemp lately........keep it up guys....

Some people might have missed that Sky3DS is a Company!

Companies main goal is to earn money.

I have a blue cart. But'll not whine. I have played over 50 games with my blue Sky3DS. Think about the real price for those games ^^

(I actually bought the Sky3DS because I realised that the 800 Euros I had spent on 3ds games was just too much. So I went back to piracy)

Life/family/work/school? I think your expectations are a little unreasonable.

The user being eluded to is @Foxi4, an official gbatemp reporter/reviewer. While that doesn't mean he's not capable of trolling, it's unlikely.

Another user got the exact same reply, this is their default canned response to emails enquiring about continued support for the previous card. So don't get your hopes up.

Ok. Not the same one :)

PS: Excuse the poor lighting, it's literally almost 1AM here, so my phone's flash will have to do - it's not exactly the right time of day to set up an elaborate arrangement of lights for a nice, crisp photo. ;)

no need to provide proof, you are recognize as a reviewer. someones just being stupid.

lol at the people complaining about this new cart. I'm sure they'd still complain if Sky didn't nothing about the AP. They cannot win with these people. The Sky team did this out of of necessity, and this cart is upgradable, so it should be more future proof than the rest. Y'all bought the blue cart. You have access to the vast majority of 3DS games, except for eShop only and these new AP games, and you have access to this library for ~$100! That's a great deal! Yet, the Sky team are the greedy ones? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit.

*Vince McMahon voice* The Sky3DS team didn't screw the whiny consumers, the whiny consumers screwed the whiny consumers.

Thank god someone who isnt giving sky bullshit, I know there are others out there
But it is great to know someone isnt posting
"Sky3ds green button with X amount of buttons" or "I just bought a blue button then they annouce the sky3ds+ this is bullshit"
Plus the amount of buying all the current ap games is higher then the sky3ds+ I say this is a great deal
Plus sky3ds wanted to give the people who want bypass the ap check something while they look for a fix for the blue button
Though i wished the sky3ds+ had green buttons

Wow, can't wait to read the first review. I'm actually pretty curious what sort of firmware updates they can push into this cart.
As for homebrew, i'm going to give it a shot and guess that it will perform just like the old Blue button Sky3ds. Since the cart's supposed to emulate a retail cartridge, you can load in your CN or OOT and set it up for Ninjhax/OOTHax, and that's what they mean by homebrew compatible. :P

On a side note, if these firmware updates could lead to us playing other region games on the 3DS, i'll be even more sold to replace my blue one. :)

Umm the blue button can use ninjhax
So that isnt going any where with sky3ds+
With smeals ninjhax 2.5 you can play other region games unless you are talking from home menu then we have to wait for a 9.3+ kernel exploit
When they said 3rd party homebrew they meant any homebrew that worked with blue button so ninjhax and oothax

Yes, i know. I own a blue sky3ds myself and i have ninjhax setup before. My reply was more to others who think in a general sense, homebrew , like example FTBrony can be loaded in the Sky3ds and launched. Which i don't think so.

As for playing other region games, i'm just saying it would be great if other than just skipping the AP checks, the firmware upgrade for the Sky3ds+ can trick the 3ds into loading other region games. If you use RegionThree/Four, you still have to go through the hassle of downloading the necessary files, knowing where to place them on your SD cards and waste time launching it each time you turn on your 3DS. You also get stuck with an old 3DS firmware whereas the main advantage of the Sky3ds is that it works with all latest firmware versions.

If the Sky3DS+ could do region free native. Then I would buy it the first day! :D

The cart works as a "cardtrige emulator", there is no way to add region free to it without the check being patched... which is code execution... which it would require Kernel if it's coming straight from the cart itself... Like a Gateway.

would you be willing to pop it open and take a pic of the chipsets inside. im curious if they've changed at all or if they simply added micro usb hooks to access the firmware.
