After setting a new record for midnight openings with $26.27 million at 3,514 theaters, Summit Entertainment's The Twilight Saga: New Moon has also broken the record for a single day, earning $72.7 million on Friday at 4,024 theaters. The previous single day record of $67.2 million was held by The Dark Knight.

It looks like The Dark Knight's 3-day record of $158 million may be in jeopardy now as well.

In related news, 'Rick' told us that posters for the third film in the "Twilight" series, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, are already in theaters and you can check out a photo below. That film, directed by David Slade, hits theaters on June 30.

Still cant believe that New Moon made that much even tho ppl say the movie sucks compared to the books LOL

IF You are reading this i got real bored...........

Wow......

That's just crazy. New Moon sucks compared to the book. I just saw it from T*B to see what the hype was about. I didn't get what the hype was about.

if new moon is a more kids genre then its strange rather than sad

Well, I guess there's no accounting for taste...

It's either
I'm a human-sized bat come to tackle villains in make-up
or
Ooh, I'm a sparkly vampire that lives in the forest

I know which I'd prefer, The Dark Knight was good...

It's like when Mamma Mia broke records for the most DVDs sold (or whatever it was)

Why do I find it ironic that we're comparing two polar-opposite movies that you'd never compare together, and yet, both have something to do with bats? lmao!
