Are you sure? Because I remember I've never had this problem. I'm pretty sure too. And somehow, I had gotten it to work before. So I don't know why the files extension thing would work one time and not another.

Well, it's actually a combination of what you said and what I said. The option is to "Hide extensions for known file types." My guess is that in your case, the DAT file type was unknown so it displayed it correctly. But then you installed something that "took" the DAT file type (making it a known file type), and it thus started hiding the extension.

Microsoft really screwed up by making that option on by default. It has caused a huge amount of confusion for a huge number of users. Untick the option and there isn't any question because it always shows the file extension.

Yeah Bri, that happened to me when I was installing YSMenu.

I was using someone else's computer, and it did this when I was renaming YSMenu.nds to TTMENU.DAT. I put it in my DSTT, fired up my DS, and it came up with the Menu? thing. I was so confused for a while until I plugged my SD card into my computer and it showed that it was in fact named TTMENU.DAT.nds.

So yeah, that was annoying

I have a mac. I cant install YSMENU. Is there anything I can do? Is there a download that is already executed? D:

do you need the TTMENU.SYS file? it came with the official DSTT firmware.

I believe that file will be created the first time you run the menu if it doesn't exist. So no you don't need to install it, but you do need free space on your microSD card for it to be created.

As far as I know, there's no reason you couldn't install YSMenu using a Mac. Follow the directions in the FAQ.

Great FAQ! Thanks for all the info.

Just wanted to let you know the link for YSMenu on the GBATemp wiki is wrong. The correct link is:
Code:
http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/index.php?title=YSMenu

Once again, thanks for the info!

I know the problem you are having. The way to install it is to get a real computer and ditch mac!

I use YS Menu with no problems but lately I discovered an annoying problem.Whenever I try to load new games from my card using YS Menu it crashes without even loadingthe game. The strange thing is that these games load fine just using the R4 menu but no luck with YS Menu.Does anyone knows why is this happening? Are there specific rom versions compatible to YS Menu? Thanks in advance.

I have a question regarding the menu on the original dstti and the fake gold dstti. The original displays all the games icons + another icon related to the game and the fake does not. How can I make my original software not display any extra icons just the games?

the software I am referring to is here http://www.ndstti.cn/download.html

Thanks
