Hacking New Ds Replacement Cases On Dealextreme

Well I just ordered the black transparent case from DX. I'll let you guys know how it goes!

I'm bumping this but for a good reason, new replacement shell is up, and in my opinion it looks great!

And some others that aren't listed in the OP:

I really can't decide.

I want to get the Pokemon D&P shell but I hate my black case cause its a finger mark magnet.
I want to get the Zelda shell but I heard its stiff.
I want to get the Nintendo World shell, but again, black and finger marks.
I want to get the red shell, but I don't like the red&white combo.
That leaves me with blue&black or Dragon shell, but I don't know if the bottom is glossy.

What would you do?

^ the arnt its just to show you what it looks like, the hinge is included in the bag of parts that comes with it.

the lime green went down, its now 25.30 rather than that 32 some

That leaves me with blue&black or Dragon shell, but I don't know if the bottom is glossy.no, the crimson/black, cobalt/black and chinese dragon kits all have a matte black finish on the case shell parts that are black.

they didn't assemble the cases for the photos. the right-side cover screws into the lower shell half and comes packaged in a separate parts bag with the kits.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but here's a video that really helped me: DS Lite Casemod. It has 4 parts and does the whole disassembly and reassembly so all you have to do is do exactly what he does!

I have posted it several times! in few different threads, but it's ok, that video is very helpful, and I used it when I modded my NDS!

Oh ok. Yeah I thought I'd post that video because when most people ask for tutorials they give them the one on flickr. It's a good tutorial, but it's hard to follow the directions without actually seeing it done. That's why the video is 100 times better. My advice for anyone thinking about doing this is to watch the video as many times as you can before you do the mod. If there's something you don't quite get the first time, watch it over and over until you have a general understanding of it. That way you won't open your DS and panic when you realize you're in over your head!

Also, make sure you have tons of time to do the job and be patient (especially with the ribbon cable). If anyone has any questions feel free to send me a pm.

I ordered the green case a couple of weeks ago and it was $25.30. Now it's down even more to $18.46. They have a cool photo of someone having put it all together here:

I have studied all the tutorials, and think that with care, I can follow those tedious directions and reskin our old grimy White DS Lite with cracked left and right hinges, and flopping screen. My son will be so jealous if I complete the project successfully, because green is his favorite color.

It's supposed to be a laser design, the streaks disappear under certain lighting conditions while more streaks appear

I'd be willing to bet some of what you are seeing is the protective film they use so its not all scratched up when you get it.

I'm glad I ordered it yesterday. I hope it shows up before my upcoming car trip or I'll be very bored.
