Kupo, Kupo, Kupo...understand. We aren't "censoring" you. This is a thread asking about Windows. Not Macs. We don't care that you don't like them, or think they're trash or whatever you think. That wasen't what she asked for. Now leave it at that.

*And it's not "your call." This isn't censorship. It's called "Staying on topic."

Looking at all the replies to my post, most positive, you should go with what the members want, not what you want. I am changing the subject to what I felt needed to be said in reply, and unless you want to see a million "RE: Thread ID 1006288" threads with what people actually want to say in the off topic section, stop censoring virtually all replies.

I FEEL OPPRESSED!

One person agreeing with you doesn't mean that's "what the members want." And even if that's what they want, it is still off topic. Continue this debate if you wish. You aren't going to win it.

In that case, can I make a new thread for each reply I want to make?

I'll take one member over some random Smash nut.

And this "Smash Nut" just happens to be a moderator here who happens to actually understand the rules more than you do. Go ahead, make your own thread to discuss Macs over PCs. Can't be off-topic in your own thread. Don't make it an obvious troll thread to start a flame war though, or I'll have to deal with it afterall.

**Sorry for having your thread go way off course.

So yeah, I fessed up the moneys I had and bought myself a newer computer. Now it came preinstalled with Vista, which sucks. I tend to try to make the most out of Vista until I get fed up to the point I want to kill it.

So the bulk of this is, what should I install, edit, config, etc.

If you tell me the model, I could probably help installing XP. Which owns OSX.

wtf happened to staying on topic!? even the mods dont do it!

ON TOPIC: my brother has use vista (HB) since Dec -07 and loved it. I like it too since it is kinda like XP layout wise (not a flame!!! look at all the Macs!

arent they original!)

Many of the refurbished desktop computers were are selling at my work apparently lack XP drivers now. This is a really shitty position.

Now I agree that Vista isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be, but the fact that it is still massively prefered to still run XP is MORE than enough against it. I run Vista purely to get ahead of the curve and of course to torture myself a bit. Infact, I'm going through complete hell working with alternative bluetooth solutions in Vista. Didn't have these issues in XP, and I certainly didn't have to hit "Install unsigned driver" twenty fucking times just to get my dlink drivers installed.

For better or worse though, I'm sticking with it. People said that users will never be "dragged over, kicking and screaming", tell that to the folks who don't have any xp drivers.

Those people should learn to do research before making a purchase.
I work customer service in a computer store. Trust me. I would LOVE nothing more than for people to learn about what the fuck they are buying. The sad truth is that there are a lot of those people. Or at least "quality over quantity".

Then they deserve whatever they bought.

They weren't "dragged over, kicking and screaming"; they simply made a purchase without knowing what the fuck they were doing.

Vista is awesome why does everyone hate it ?
Because they "go with the flow" because everyone else hates it.

I personally love it, my start-up time is only around 7-10 seconds now, excluding bios/raid start up screens(ie, from the time the little bar starts scrolling to when I'm on desktop). XP would always take longer for me.

I have used vista for quite a few months now and the only problems I have ran into is drivers. sometimes it acts like it cant find ANY drivers (even if I am plugging in a mouse or something) and the other problem I have is my keyboard stops working and I have to go and tel lit to reinstal the keyboard drivers.

now, I dont know if it's my fault though, because I was really screwing with the drivers at one point trying to get the Xbox 360 USB dancepad to work on the computer, and then I was trying to get custom Xbox controller drivers installed and THEN, I was trying to get custom wii remote drivers installed... so I am pretty sure it was something that I did.

also, I dont know if this is vista or not, but when I shut down my computer and move it to my friends house, sometimes, (it will only do this after I move it) it will freeze and I will have to reset. when I reset, it says "Can not find boot device
SATA: Installed
SATA: Installed
SATA: None
SATA: None"
(its not those exact words, but its something like that)
then I have to restart and when I start again its fine until I move it again
