NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

So, Nintendo's just completely oblivious as to why people use the internet, aren't they?

Actually also because of battery.

Flash browsers actually consumes a lot more battery than it's non flash counterparts.

Nintendo already knew that the 3DS has quite a 'bad' amount of battery life...
They won't want to deplet it further.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

Being logical= talking won't bring flash back. Nothing will make Nintendo bring it back.

...what are you talking about? A program is a program - when the console is running at a constant framerate with its CPU and GPU working at a constant frequency, the difference in battery life between two applications is barely noticable unless the applications use different ammounts of internal hardware.

An internet browser without flash would burn as much battery life as an internet browser with flash as long as both are properly coded. Nintendo is just being lazy f*cks - it has to be said. If the Wii could do it, the 3DS can do it.

In my opinion , the reason why the new browser and Apple stuff don't run flash is ....
one - for speed
two- Flash is like a Virus/Malware magnet. I have purposely ran a Pentium 3 without any flash apps enabled to site i knew that had this stuff and did not pick up anything. Once i enabled it and went back to those site i was bombed.
Number one reason is profit.
Nintendo want to sell their devkits, not have people create 3DS games for the browser in flash.
I'm talking about download-only games, not cart games of course.

Infecting 3DS with Windows virus/malware is impossible.
She didn't say Windows.

#1 - I do beg for 1 virus that was developed for the DS. And I'm not talking Taihen - I mean a virus executable that runs as soon as you download it without you knowing. None exist, of course. Why? Because you couldn't run jack in background, and on the 3DS you have complete control of what's running in the background so I can't see viruses happening, sorry.

#2 - Flash isn't there not just because of the games. "Games" could be written in Java just as well, and it's supported.

The reason why there is no Flash or HTML5 is simply because the hardware probably had trouble with pulling it off, much like the Wii had. That's also a reason why the Wii's browser never got the fabled Flash upgrade - nobody wanted to show off that the system is crippled in such an essential area.

Just from watching the promotional video for the browser I already noticed that the system has problems with stuff as simple as scrolling web pages. You want Flash to run? Why? It's going to be sh*t anyways.

Fix't that for ya, because once flash content is loaded, no matter if it is something very small or large, visible or invisible, the browser now has to handle operating it, and like others have said, running Flash content is CPU-intensive, which leads to faster battery consumption. It's all fine and dandy if you don't come across websites without flash, but many use it for some of the simplest things that have no importance.

Plus, no one is arguing that the 3DS can't do it. We know it can do it, and more. We are arguing that it wouldn't make sense to have Flash support due to its requirements, which have already been pointed out. The Wii has to be plugged into the wall to operate, which makes the power consumption of games/programs a non-factor. The 3DS is meant to be portable, and you won't always have it plugged in, especially if you are out and about.

...you do know that you sound *really funny* when you say all this? The 3DS runs on a tiny ARM which consumes very little electricity as it is, even in stress. I do agree that it would cause the CPU to be used more intensively, but I cannot agree when you say it would significantly lower the battery life. You'd loose half an hour at worst when using the browser from start to black out which is a rather small sacrifice when you get so much more content.

No it isn't.

ORLY? Where At?

We still don't even know what kind of ARM processor the 3DS uses, other than it being a custom chip, which may or may not lend itself to handling Flash well. The newer ARM SoCs do have full Flash 10.1 support with relatively lower power requirements, but Nintendo had finalized their 3DS hardware some time before then.

Let's also not forget that Nintendo isn't making the browser from scratch. They are using a version of Netfront, which might have been chosen because it possibly worked the best within the confines of the 3DS environment and limited resources (which is assumed to be the 32MB of supposed OS-reserved memory). Casual browsing might work well, but plugin support might not in this scenario. Other browsers might have done better with plugins at the cost of casual browsing taking a hit. Let's not forget licensing. We don't have the data on what's best for a device we don't have a whole lot of information on. They do, however. There were decisions made in what should be incorporated, and we see that including it was not on the list. Just because it conflicts with what anyone thinks they should do does not make them lazy, as they have far more insight and information for making the right decisions. Throwing it into the bundle because its there is not a logical decision.

I think we should stop compaining about Opera and NetFront.

Wait till June 6/7 then compare, will ya?

This severely hurts the 3DS's ability to view porn.

But I'm not surprised. I've decided not to expect anything from my 3DS anymore.
