Thought some people might be interested in this. Too bad its just in beta and it is just a 14 day trial. Then they charge $39.99.

Is there anyway someone is able to make a program like this that would be free? I just think its stupid that I already pay for netflix now I got to pay more just to view movies on my wii. Any ideas?

Here is the link to article where i found it:

This is the link to the website where you download the program:

Playon is excellent software, and it goes on sale all the time for 20 or 25. That said, i heard end of september, Netflix is coming to Wii and PS3 and Iphone. I wouldnt worry, just wait.

Tversity pro will do it for free, that being said I have found the performance and interface (on both the server PC and the wii) to be a lot better with Playon (Tversity only allow playing of you Hulu queue whereas Playon allows follow browsing) . I still find the video a little choppy, but that could be due to the wireless on the wii, it works perfectly with my HR23 DVR. I will def snap up playon once it becomes available for around $20.

No Wii os PS3 for Netflix. Read this

Its exclusive till the day its not anymore. Also, that article is ancient history, just re-posted to show how stupid bloggers are to report news without doing any checking up on it. Netflix contract ends Sept with microsoft. Take your bets if you think microsoft will spend more then netflix will make by allowing ps3/wii owners to sign up for netflix streaming. I doubt they will, but you never know i guess.

Ive been a Playon user for about 8 months with my Xbox using XBMC. They offer alot of channels including Hulu and netflix. It does support Wii !! It is a beta but info leaked out about how to connect your wii. All you do is have Internet browser installed as a channel and goto
www.playon.tv
and if playon is runnin on your pc as it should you will see playon as a option for a connection. Once you click it you will see all your installed plugins INCLUDING hulu and netflix. Both work. I was watched a couple mins of Hulu just as a test and watched a whole movie Matchstick men off Netflix.
I need to turn settings of bandwidth to LOW as playon forums say but mine was on high and film just seemed a tick slow but not bad enough not to stop watchin the movie. I will see if LOW makes it a better playback.
Pros:
Watch hulu and netflix on TV
Many other plugin channels and more to come (http://www.playonplugins.com/ )
Cons:
Screen a little small
Picture quality a bit grainy
Cost of playon ( they do put it on sale once a few months but I feel $40 is well worth streamin movies and Tv shows to my tv is well worth savings I have on cuttin back my cable package)
Wii most likely not be able to convert video formats due to its OS and components so it will need a PC to help with the work. I feel its worth it and they do offer a trial period.
post any questions and I can try to help on what I know about it.

You can click on the icon that looks like rectangle in a rectangle and that will make it full screen. Also there is a promo code for $10 off (good thru 8/31/09) AUG10OFF

Even after that its 3/4 of full screen. I know my xbmc becomes full on both sites. But small price to pay so far.

    I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

    I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

    Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

    @Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    dualbooth
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
    I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

    @SylverReZ,
    I also recall my brother downloded a "non bloated" version of windows 11 on his pc

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
    @Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
