neogeo hw spec and doubts

Hi. I have some doubts about the neogeo. I read the hardware specifications and I can't understand how it can play such beautiful games with little hw and little ram. I was wondering if the neogeo is able to emulate other systems.

CPU: 16-bit 65816 (3.58MHz)
RAM: 128KB (1Mb), 64KB (0.5Mb) Video RAM.
Graphics: Dedicated graphics processor.
Colors: 32768 (256 on screen)
Sprites: 128.
Sprite Size: 64x64 pixels.
Resolution: 512x448 pixels.
Sound: 8-channel 8-bit Sony SPC700 digitized sound.

neogeo spec
[CPU: 16-bit Motorolla 68000 (12MHz) and 8-bit Zilog Z80 (4MHz)
RAM: 64KB (68000) + 2KB (Z80), Video RAM: 68KB.
Colors: 64K (4K on screen)
Sprites: 380.
Game Media: Cartridge.
Resolution: 320x224.
Sound: 3 PSG, 4-FM synthesis, 7-digital, 1 noise channel.

Even the Mega Drive would have looked better than the SNES if it could display as many colors at once. The 12 Mhz CPU and 4K on-screen colors was what made the difference.

Also, kind of unrelated, but... FM > PCM. :P

ok.. but how neogeo can push a game like kof with his poor hw? neogeo have 68k of ram.... loool
