NeoFlash fresh news!
neoflash.jpg

UPDATE
We now know more about the mysterious NeoFlash, the first Nintendo DS flash kit.
First of all, they have a new website, with a nice alien-like green design. There is also a message board and a pictures page.
Second point, we know the price. According to this website, the price for the 512 MB Neo Kit is $200.
This website also reveals the release date: Monday 09 May, 2005.

And, last but not least, shaunj66 has just been sent his Neo Kit, and he's going to write a great review as soon as he receives it!

They should have made the GBA side of the flash cart compatable with the GB bridge (or design there own) so it could be used as a 4 in 1 with GB/GBC support (hardware support on a real GB/GBC or GBA/SP in GB mode. I dont care if it can support GB/GBC in emulation) as well.

back to topic...

yes not a bad price to start wid but still it is 512Mbits for about 95pounds and not 1Gbits cart, i m pretty sure we are going to see high capacity cards for ds i.e. 256MB/512MB(not mbits) sometime after E3.

good news tho at least we are getting something

I don't think I'm willing to pay that much for a device that can't dump my own games. I understand the difficulties involved, but I'm willing to hold out.

Seems a little expensive for a 512 Mb cart (if I recall well max capacity for the memory bank is about 1 Gb which means I'll wait a little more till they release
2 Gb (or 256 MB) & higher capacity carts (I"m wishing they could fully fit the magic key into the DS slot but that's a detail important enough for me to a bit longer ...+ considering there aren't many commercial roms nor a wide selection of homebrew roms I'm not considering getting one right now... maybe if there was a reliable SNES emu to be ported to the DS I would change my mind ...until then I'll stick to my

well it looks to me that this is just a gba flashcard + passme-like device bundled together. so for everyone that already owns a gba-card it seems to be much of a better choice to get a passme for 20$ instead.

look what I found...

is it true you can't put larger files then 4 MB on the card?!
that sounds like an interesting rumour
kiwibonga ?
biggrin.gif

is it true?!
where did you hear it?
files bigger then that will FIT on the cart. but I believe there is currently some homebrew memory limitation of 4MB
because complete ROM gets copied to RAM, and continues executing from there.
but you can easily fit you main binary in 4 MB, and load external files from the cart
(I guess)

elifecybe: it's noa limitation of the neoflash, it's a limitation of the DS :-)
s/noa/not/;
DS only has 4MB of memory..

so you can't put files larger then 4 MB on it? the last part I didn't understand...

Let's hope that the review of the card will make clear what you cant and what you can do with it.

As it seems now the card is overpriced and has next to no features above what has been suggested before by opcode32.

It seems far from the products were used to on the GBA front.
