Then you change the payload of OOThax to 9.2 and see if that works.

I didn't know that was an option at the time. I'm still very new to this type of stuff and didn't know I could change the payload of OOThax, it's too late anyways to fix this one unless i hardmod anyways since I'm on 11.0 now. I thought I had a fix but now I don't. Might just return and get a black 3ds xl from target and then try again and follow the instructions better.

that's why you ask questions if you're not sure what to do next.

And yes, you can do the dsidowngrade if your 2ds has low firmware: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/DSiWare-Downgrade

I agree completely, next time I try to do I'll be sure to ask more questions. :) thanks!

And I can't downgrade 2ds either cause mom updated it to 11.0 last night like I mentioned before in an earlier reply

You sure that it updated the firmware? (Like, did you check it in the system settings?)
might be just a update for the game, not the firmware.

No pokemon game atm requires the newest firmware so... i dunno.

Yeah I'm sure it updated. I checked when I went home quickly, it wasn't the pokemon game needing the 2DS to update, there was apparently some gifts waiting and the eshop needed the system to updated. I can't remember exactly what she said but it was definitely at 11.0 :(

Oh right, e-shop recently got a update. Totally forgot about that.
That sucks.

Something you could do though is, take the n3ds back (because you just bought it yesterday)
and get a new one. Tell them you want another edition/color or something like that.

wait your mom updated your game not yor firmware if she pressed A (Y) to update the game.check your system settings to make sure she hadn't updated the whole system( I believe not because if she did that she hates you :-P )

LOL she. Updated the whole system unfortunately, like I just mentioned she was trying to skip through all the notifications and there was gifts waiting and eshop update that required the system to be updated.

Yeah that seems to be the final verdict, I'll just go back to target and trade in the Mario bundle (cause I have all original packaging) and just get the black version of the n3ds xl since it's on sale for 174.99 which is better than anywhere else I've looked recently. Would you happen to know if there is a specific serial number I can look for to try and get a lower firmware version than 11.0? Cause if I get a new one and it had 11.0 the exchange would be pointless.

-snip-

Yeah there's a guide somewhere here on gbatemp.
Though, you should find one below 11 easily.
Just don't get the new Galaxy one. I heard the Mario 3D Land bundle (if you don't have that atm) comes with 10.7 so that might be good.

The Mario land 3d bundle is the current one I have that I messed up and updated. It was the last one in any store around me and closest one to me is 3 hours away now, though to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the Mario plates, the only reason I bought it was because it was guaranteed lower than 11.0 and it was cheaper than n3ds xl plus it came with a free game. I'll see if I can get a black one with 10.7 that would be perfect.

Just in case you wanted to save some money, get someone who knows how to solder to help you out. The 2DS isn't that hard to hardmod, and if you get that one done, you could easily do a system transfer downgrade to your n3ds. Just an idea, good luck with whatever you choose to do!

Trying to improve your business ? Jk
I recently got one from GameStop with a firm of 9.6.

Target, walmart, etc most USA based stores are all 11.00.xx Gamestop is usually sold out here as well and get new stock as well. Been like that here for the last 2 months or so now.

Hey everyone! so i just wanted to give an update, so i was able to find a target with the mario bundle (going to swap to super smash bros plates) and was able to exchange (my only free option to fix), then last night i went through downgrading and installing custom firmware and @MadMageKefka helped me through the long process, so i wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to him, because i wouldnt have been able to do it myself since im still so new to this..so i was successful and have luma cfw installed and everything is working perfectly! thanks everyone who posted!
