Hello everyone! A friend of mine asked me to kind of fix his New 3DS. Sadly i can't give that much information, as i am stuck right now.

The info i can give:
  • New 3DS
  • no idea what version
  • it boots straight into menuhax loader
  • afterwards straight into homebrew launcher
  • console completely hangs after trying to leave the menuhax configurator
  • so far no way of booting into the normal 3DS menus
I know it's not much to work with, maybe someone can help me figure out how to "properly" hack this New 3DS (install games with a homebrew app and playing it form the normal 3DS menu)

Won't i lock myself out of using the homebrew launcher?
Try if you can get the console to boot normally by removing the Home Menu extdata (if you want to keep it, just rename the folder instead of deleting it).

Losing access to the HB launcher (temporary) because of deleting (or renaming) the profile with Menuhax is not a big deal; Menuhax is fairly old and only works on lower firmware, you probably can hack the 3DS with Soundhax by starting the guide from the beginning:
https://3ds.hacks.guide

Once you have deleted(renamed) the Home Menu extdata, the console should boot normally and allow you to get the firmware version (for choosing the correct path on the guide) in System Settings.

If you don't know how things work, it is better to start from beginning. Also nobody knows how this is set up and we all have to guess.
Also you can reinstall menuhax with the binary I linked to and set a shortcut (L button e.g.) to skip triggering menuhax at console boot time.

But better you follow this guide from beginning: 3ds.guide
At the end you'll have a permament cfw and you can have the homebrew launcher as an installed title.

You have to uninstall menuhax before installing B9S anyway. If you don't, you'll get a black screen on boot later. Do what @KleinesSinchen said - uninstall menuhax by deleting home menu extdata then install B9S by following the guide from the beginning.
