Hacking Need Atmosphere install help.

I am 99% sure I am on firmware 4.0.1. I am not interested in playing online. I just want to do the following

1. Backup any necessary files before any changes are made if I ever need to restore
2. Install the latest Atmosphere.
3. Have the system boot custom firmware every time (if possible)?


What is the simplest, most straight forward way to accomplish this?

What do you want someone to post a tutorial for you here. That's asking a bit much when all the information you need is in this forum. Lurk more, if you have specific questions after you have helped yourself a bit, I'd be willing to help you.

Thanks but that's the problem there is too much info/threads. I can't decide what I really need to do. I just need a 'hacking for dummies' guide. I forgot to mention I'm running Win 10 on my computer. I know I need to put my Switch in RCM mode but what software to run 1st, 2nd, and 3rd is confusing.

Dude, you don't even for sure what FW you are on. It's not confusing. Just read more really. This is the easiest console of all time to hack. Why don't you just buy SXOS if you want someone to basically hold your hand. That's probably your best bet .Then once you're used to it experiment with atmosphere

I'll try to read some more, but it is a lot. I'm 99% sure the last time I looked it was 4.0.1 but now system setting doesn't show the version. It says there is a update available.

1. launch hekate, and backup Boot0/1 and Raw GPP (both are under tools>backup) https://github.com/CTCaer/hekate/releases
2. Put the contents of the Atmosphere zip on the root of your sd card and use fusee-primary.bin as the payload (both of these are found here https://github.com/Atmosphere-NX/Atmosphere/releases)
3. Having the system automatically boot into CFW is currently impossible without a modchip, so you have to manually push the payload every time you restart the system.

Isn't that really outdated now?
Anyway, to answer your question, no CFW can't be booted on startup at least not yet. You'll need to inject a payload every time you shutdown, but you could just keep it in sleep mode or buy a RCM dongle. https://www.sdsetup.com is probably the best place to start with setting up.
