Need advice on how to store memory outside Wii U

probably low. I own several wd elements and wd black, which are 2.5" hdds in an enclosure. the highest capacity afaik for usb powered is 5TBs.

If I use an HDD and after I'm done with it I unplug it will the data get lost or corrupted if it's not always plugged into the power supply?

Please note that not the size of the disc determines if it needs an external power source.
The Wii U is capped at 500 mA / port. So with a Y cable you'll get 1 mA max. Max means for peaks! So either use an external power supply, hardmod your Wii Us USB ports or read the datasheet of the drive closely.

I'll probably do what's recommended so maybe the one I chose from Amazon should do since it uses an external power supply.

The 2TB Western Digital 3.5 HDD.
