I'll probably do what's recommended so maybe the one I chose from Amazon should do since it uses an external power supply.Please note that not the size of the disc determines if it needs an external power source.
The Wii U is capped at 500 mA / port. So with a Y cable you'll get 1 mA max. Max means for peaks! So either use an external power supply, hardmod your Wii Us USB ports or read the datasheet of the drive closely.
