I've just tried it with the latest release using the shortcut you provided but nothing happened
Have you tried changing the setting in the in-game menu?
If so, and nothing happened, then the game is incompatible with screen swap.

when i do the screen swap on animal crossing and it worked but it glithces out of control
This also happens on the main nds-bootstrap builds.
Due to how the game is coded, there's nothing that can be done to fix this, unfortunately.

Hello, RocketRobz! Thanks for great job! Do you plan to make quick screen switching for DSLite? Standart 4 keys switching is to slow for quick gaming :)

Is TWiLight Menu++ installed? If so, then turn on "Use nds-bootstrap" in TWLMenu++ Settings, launch a game, and then hold L+R+Up+X for 1 or 2 seconds to swap the screens.

Hi, I love the work you have done, but would there be any way to fix the bug in super mario 64? it runs fine and changes the screen when I press the buttons, but the interface is bugged on the screen and it bothers when you try to play.
This is a known issue with no known fix.
Also, please report future issues in this thread (and in English): https://gbatemp.net/threads/nds-bootstrap-loader-run-commercial-nds-backups-from-an-sd-card.454323/

xonn's custom nds-bootstrap build is no longer needed, as the main build has the screen swapping feature, so to others reading, please do the same, instead of bumping this thread.

Totally agree with @RocketRobz
This thread can be closed, the main idea was finally implemented in main build of nds-bootstrap, and it will be maintained and (maybe) improved there. This old version has the only "advantage" of swap screens with a more simple button combination, but nothing else.
Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Tiny question does this work on a 3ds lite through a r4?

Question does this work on a ds lite through an r4?

Any reason why nds-bootstrap control shortcuts don't work?

I'm using 1.5.2 on a DS lite via TWM++ on an R4 and I can access the in-game menu with the default l+down+select however none of the other controls are working. I can swap screens via the menu but l+r+up+x held does nothing for example.

Any insight would be great as I'm trying to set this card up for a single screen "Gameboy macro" salvage and wonder if others have run into this too.

The screen swap button combo no longer works (regardless of console or flashcard), because the screen swap setting is now saved, and so the button combo is disabled in order to prevent writing the setting each time.

So I'm not going crazy, that's great to know. Of course I was hoping for a quick toggle, but I appreciate how much consideration is going into the project. Thanks Rob!

Just musing aloud, but how about an option for persistent or toggleable screen positions, best of both worlds as for some (like me!) avoiding the need for menu diving would be favorable to persistence.

Edit:

For DS lite users, there exists an unrelated utility to pre-patch a hotkey to swap screens called NitroSwapper by reddit user Skelux.

Just in case you find yourself in a similar usecase this might fit the bill.

Hello to everyone.
I have included a swap screen option through key combination SELECT+UP / SELECT+DOWN in nds-bootstrap to enjoy NDS titles in GBMacros or DS with one screen damaged.
To use it follow those instructions:
  1. Download it from this repository and copy it to _nds folder of TwilighMenu++.
  2. In your console, press Y in a NDS title and select nds-bootstrap = nightly
  3. Start your game and use key combination whenever you want.
I have checked some games, and for now, I only have found one that is not swap-screen-friendly: Mario64 DS. Some games reset the screens (like MKDS) when a level is completed, or a cinematic is displayed. In this case, just re-swap again :)
this work on old 3DS XL? it just gives me white screen when loading Pokemon White, which is compatible.
