So this means we'd probably see a patch released within the next few days, then?
No. There's still more work to be done outside of editing.
You guys work so fast it may come to a sooner release than you think. LOL

But I'm not one to force release dates on you. Release it when you guys feel it's ready for the world.

I'll admit, I haven't worked my usual magic. I wasn't sure how much of my input would be appreciated, so I just cleaned things up. Punctuation issues, American English, and whatnot. Plus I toned down the language a bit. S-missiles and f-bombs seemed just a touch excessive for the overall tone of the game.

Did you change the spelling from British English to American English?

I’ll be changing the US English back to UK English. I’m from the UK and G-Han is from Europe, so we agreed to write in what was natural for us. Perhaps we hadn’t made that clear in the thread, as we were communicating a lot via PM. Please keep it in UK English from here on in.

Also, the game was rated 15, so while perhaps ‘fuck’ isn’t appropriate, I feel expressing some of the characters’ frustrations through phrases like ‘poor bastard’ is appropriate.

OK. Also, in the control guide text, I was using correct DS terminology (such as +Control Pad or SELECT) as based on the glossaries that are given out to DS developers for their localisations, so I’m going to stick with that too for the sake of looking more like a professional localisation.

Edit: damn autocorrect

Something freakish is going on o.o
I wonder how come this game was labeled impossible few yeas ago and suddenly out of the blue a team work on it and finish it
Some people declared it (just like many other games) "impossible" just because they, to be quite frank, lacked any more advanced skills that are needed for many games. If someone can't find uncompressed text within 5 minutes of extracting the rom's content, chances are he states it's unhackable. Another example are the SRW games, which have custom compressions for all sorts of data.
A game like this needed a decent amount of reverse engineering and some assembly hacks. Every room in the game has its own encoding (two, even, if I recall correctly from when I looked into it) which does not correspond to SJIS at all. It just has all the characters that specific room and screen uses. Furthermore, the text is embedded into a scripting language which also needed to be figured out in order to extend the text. Neither of those things are unheard of in other games, but fact is that sooo many NDS games rely on very simplistic formats that there are many people translating them who don't have the knowledge to figure out either of these things.

It's great to see more people who can hack games at the assembly level. Very nice work so far. I just wish more people would do it, a few tweaks to the game's code can change a decent work into a good one.

Ryusui, what do you think of Sunshine Dress for that item name? I’ve been trying to find something that doesn’t sound like the dress literally emits sunlight… That was why I initially went for Summery Dress.

If it really bothers you on whether to use American or British English, is there a chance for two diff patches? Or some sort of "switch"?

I don’t think it would be worth the effort. As the main translators speak UK English, I think it’s only right to stick to that. The characters haven’t been characterised as British or anything.

Listen, I don't give a crap about "British" or "American" English, the fact that it's in English is fine enough for me.

I came to this thread when it started and expected you to be only 10-20% done by now, but all the way done, and editing... you guys are gods. Or just extremely devoted. Or both.

I love you. Not like that, but still.

But, the unfortunate thing is, I'm going to be scared to not finish this game within a week. Or I might DIE.

I'm one of those who can only wait behind the scenes, and cheer you on!

I loved 999, and I know this isn't like that at all, I mean in general with Horror and mind-blowing.

I can't wait. A month, a day, a week, it's all the same to me (until I play the game. Then, I have to beat it in a week.), so just release it whenever you think is best.

OK, just finished checking all the proofreads and accepting edits, and committed the final files.

Next up for me would be dealing with the text in the game not present in these files, I guess.

I'll have to ask about how to deal with that later. A friend of mine was translating a game with one of her friends but everything turned out to be in odd enough formats that only the images for the menus were able to be translated.

That's perfect. I just kept it short because I wasn't sure what kind of space restrictions we were working with.

you guys are my heroes, and I love you. Not the way you mean it though. When I say it, I mean I want to have sex with you.

In all seriousness, maybe this will lead other translators by example and other games will have lightning fast teamwork too.
