If I care about the account then I'll make something crytographically secure and save it on an encrypted drive. For accounts which I don't care about I just think of something easy to remember regardless of whether it's guessable.

I start with a random password generator using really complex mixtures of upper, lower, numbers, and symbols. Make it 10 or 12 characters long, so most places will accept it without issue. Then I force myself to memorize the pattern, not writing it or saving it anywhere but my mind.

Started with a word back in the day, until they asked for an uppercase, so 'sausage' turned into 'Sausage'
Then they asked for a number, so it became 'Sausage1'
These days the cheeky buggers are asking for a 'special' character (ooooh, fancy!!), Hence, now 'Sausage1!'

The site name followed by that of the best European car... long, different, yet super easy to remember and type
I just use uremum's maiden name in l337 5p33k.
