Wait so I need to into retroarch-core-options.cfg and change everywhere it says mupen64-plus to mupen64-plus-next?

Oh rename mupen64-plus-next to mupen64-plus? That would actually not be good for me, because I've made nro2nsps and it would mess them all up.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

There is an easier way to edit the .cfg document go to edit choose replace on find what put mupen64plus on replace with put mupen64plus_next.

The reason you might want to do it this way is because if you rename the core you might lose your saves if you have saves.

Everytime I update to the latest nightly I swear my games play worse, but yeah I hadn't made my config point to the next build so maybe that's it. I'm still using Mupen 64 Plus Open GL 2.5 c69c056 with the Jan 14 build

when you say latest you mean the 24th nightly? or the 23rd?

does mupen64plus next just use mupen64plus options in the config? I changed settings in the next core and it just updated mupen64plus in the config, so I don't need to rename each line?

No, the core options are shared - but Per game core options are put in a different folder.

01/23 but with the mupen next build that has 64 cpu oc not sure if it hit nightly yet edit it did

pilotwings so close with this build i have to turn frame buffer on otherwise there are graphic distortions with it off the game runs very well but it kills nostalgia

Maybe a stupid question but...
Whenever I load something with the core it crashes to HBM, if I try again it crashes the whole switch.
My process:
Home>Load Core>Mupen64Plus
Home>Load Content>[rom].z64

How are you loading Retroarch? If it's nsp or album you'll be told you're doing it wrong.

On his twitter feed m4xw says:

Added a full-speed core-option to Mupen64Plus-Next that let's u run Games at full 60 fps (similar to ParaLLEl, this only works in SOME games where the framerate is unlocked, like beetle adventure racing).

Other than Beetle Adventure, does anyone know what games this works with?

I'm loading it using Atmo from BOTW.

Download and install the latest retroarch nightly. If you've already done that or that doesn't help, I have no idea why it's crashing.

Probably the only way to find out is start testing games ourselves.

Do we need to alter the cfg file for that?
