delete the update folder you have on your microsd, than transfer the extracted update folder to the root of the microsd

than just load into menuhax and sysupdate to 10.3

when your done updating to 10.3 delete that update folder and transfer the 9.2 update to root of the microsd

also i deleted my internet connection settings completely and no dns while doing the upgrading to 10.3 and downgrade to 9.2, it seemed to not want to load the cias if i was on wifi even with dns off.

ok thanks a lot again but for some reason zippyshare is being sluggish and im downloading at a 100kbps pace it'll be done downloading in 30mins
-_- what a bummer. i really appreciate your help.

Oh and one more thing, have you successfully installed a cfw? but i bet that's the least riskiest part.

really? damn thats slow as fuq! you said you already downloaded them thru mega, just check and make sure there the full and n3ds versions as i uploaded, i honestly think that the safesysuploader you used was at fault, im sure you already have the correct cia update folders. But i would also be cautious like your being, i stayed up all night yesterday getting this done making sure i was doing everything 100% correctly

I'll be installing the Reinand CFW later today, yea thats the least of my worries now, im just really excited that i was able to downgrade to 9.2 finally after doing research for 2 days and finally jumping into it.

checked my 9.2 files and safesysupdater says all the cia files for 9.2 are all good to go. now i'll just recharge my battery for 30mins then ill continue. i can feel that my downgrade will be as successful as the upgrade. btw have you successfully ran a cfw as of now? how hard is it? is it as risky as flashing firmwares?

I'll be installing the Reinand CFW later today busy atm dealing with lifes everyday struggles lol, it's not a risk imho to install CFW compared to the sketchiness that was upgrading and downgrading your fw on 3ds. Just follow every step of the directions of the CFW you choose carefully and ask questions, that's why were all here to help each other out :)

haha awesome glad you made it, take your time and choose what CFW suits you best. Honestly i'm gonna do some more reading too because theres a lot of cool CFW out there and im not too much in a rush to get in on just yet. Hopefully more 9.9 users see this thread and we can help them out too!

wow talk about balls of steel directly downgrading from 9.9? that was risky
Not really. Whether 10.3 has a higher success rate is still not confirmed, lots of bricks have happened on various firmwares and and even more successful downgrades.
But more importantly, updating to 10.3 with sysupdater could cause a brick too, so if your console isn't already on 10.3, not worth risking a brick twice.

After doing some reading i'm leaning more towards Rxtools now, the feature list is beefy :D Probaly gonna install later tonight or tomorrow.

What CFW have others used and please give reasons as to why they have or are leaning towards installing them.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
