I already found and read this thread: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=141270
and in it i found the video to adjusting the pot on the laser http://www.vimeo.com/141142
I'm gonna try that when i get home from work but i still wanted to make this thread to make sure that was the problem, which it seems like it is

When my Wii works, it makes an extremely loud buzzing sort of noise and u can hear the disc getting scratched sort of even with tilting the system slightly (though i dont really see any scratches on it). it sort of sounds like the drive is reading at like 300x speed lol. it doesnt make this sound with gamecube games (or its atleast MUCH quieter)

sometimes (maybe like 1/10 or 1/8 tries for loading a disc it will fail to load). if im loading through geckoos itl say no dvd, or if im in the wii menu it will say an error occured, take out the disc, reboot the system, etc. if this happens it will normally give me a DRE like 3-4 times in a row then work eventually.

a lil background on it, my wii is hardmodded with a wiikey. modded it over a year ago. i forget when it started making the noise. maybe like 4-6 months ago?

should i go with adjusing the pot?
