Hacking My Wii is very hot after installing Wiikey modchip

I modded my Wii with Wiikey and it works like a charm. I left it plugged in but the system was off and went to bed. In the morning I picked it up and it was very hot on the bottom. Is this normal?? Has anybody experience this? Let me know. Thanks.

Yes the WiiConnect is on. Does that make the system hot like that? I will check to make sure the fan is on. How hot does your Wii get after modding it?

Yeah, WiiConnect24 will make your Wii considerably hotter.

Do a control test – use a thermometer to measure how hot it gets with WiiConnect both on and off.

I don't think it would be your chip...turn off WiiConnect24, then check again later...

yep, this caused my problem a while ago too (back then i also toggled standby off)

I turned my wii connect off ages ago as it made the console too hot. Not only that its a waste of electricity. Fair enough if nintendo was sending me loads of goodies in the night.

wii needs a switch off button.. the standby will keep the wii warm.. i just realize this when i put it sideways on top of ps2

I like keeping my wiiconnect on, but did not like my hot wii, especially now that its modded so I added this fan to the back of the wii, it is always on but it has a speed control which allows it to run virtually silent and the wii is always cool

I picked up a USB Wii fan from Wal-Mart for $10. Makes the wii cool when its not on =)
