Hacking My VC hack tryout

Ok i downloaded a Backup VC
And i download Internet channel

I wanted to find out wat is wat it looks for
So i compared the max data ik could read opening it as binary in hex

I found these thing

You emidiatly see wats the diffrent

Same length so easy for me
I carefully edited the lines not just with a text editor else you ill corrupt the file no i did it with a hex editor
I saved openen to check if it saved correctly it did
I plugged in my Wii and file was not corrup just showed MarioBros icon thing
I clicked it waited and again it sayed: This file cannot be coppied to your Wii
It failed :'( toobad although it was a 5min work

I hope somebody can do something with this

I'd imagine that the VC games have some sort of CRC embedded in them so editing them will result in a failed CRC check and will stop the game from working. Chances are you'll need to be able to run unsigned code, if it was possible without someone probably would have made a hack by now.

Virtual Console is Rendered kind of useless with the Wii Iso's floating about with Complete NES, SNES, MASTER SYSTEM, GENESIS & TURBO16. One disk has all those games on it and look MUCH nicer on a big screen than the Virtual Console Games.

You can't edit anything from your VC stuff cause some internal Wii memory stores information about the things you've downloaded. Which is why you can't just change some key in the file to play it on another Wii, cause then that other wii doesn't have that same info on the wii itself... at least that's what I've read somewhere else. *-)

I doubt it has everything - snes alone is larger than 2.2gb.

I heard some people were having problems with some of the emulators.

You could carefully change all those padding bytes to get the correct CRC...
A bit useless any how as you can see those entries point to the Certificate Authority part of the key that signed those files,... a little bit more complex than a CRC.

To the original poster.. the stuff you have posted is copyrighted to Nintendo. I guess it should really be removed.

Get the emulator pack from Usenet.
Hacking the VC surely won't be possible until a Wii BIOS hack is out there. Having 100s of games on one GC disc is great. Brings back great memories....
