Hacking My System menu 4.0 install guide

i'm on wii 3.2U if i read your guide right i need to first install the hacked 4.0 before i update if i'm correct.

also if i have things like preloader installed and starfall and cisocrop won't my wii brick after updating because right now i'm thinking of using system menu wad before i think of following your guide.

this is also important for me to know do emulators still work i think i read some where in this thread they do but in another thread they don't.also i need to know of the emulator channels.

if i'm also correct i think all the launchers should still work right and it is still possible to downgrade.

how can i tell if i have this installed already i think i do but not sure IOS249 rev7 or 8

i'm only considering doing this because i don't download virtual console games that is what emulators are for and also i don't have a sdhc card right now i only have a 2GB sd card.

All you do is install the IOS60 using the install in my guide.

This will remove starfall, cioscorp or preloader............ it overwrites them but won't brick your wii.

Emulators work 100% anyone who says they don't has done something stupid to their wii and wasn't caused by 4.0

You can boot Wad Manager 1.3 it'll tell you if Cios is installed, if you don't know what one you have, just get the newest and install that......... if one is already installed you can update it fine.

Yes install the IOS60 with the installer and all will be fine.......

I updated, seems to work got the sdcard thing in the menu but the update canceled at about 85% I think, it said I should update again or something like if it didn't update at all

should I update?

or will it maybe ruin something?

Ok so I updated with waninkoko's 4.0 installer whats the difference between that ans this method and can I use this method to install the patched IOS60 while im on 4.0 or do I have to downgrade then go back again. Sorry im confused by this

You sure it cancelled or just went quick at end.........ceck if everything works, if not try the install again.

Yep just use this on 4.0 to install IOS60 patched so you can use sd features.

Waninkoko's installer doesn't install any new ios files except the needed ones by menu 4.0 and nintendos updates all to newest.

both are safe as none break anything, this method is still needed by both

That SD feature is best after toasted bread.
I have noticed that SD installed games use less space than in the wad form... maybe is just my imagination.

Preloader, Cioscorp and Starfall won't work on 4.0 t the moment, sorry

I'm sure a work around will surface soon.

I just installed this and it works magnificant!!! I moved all my wiiware to SD and everything works. I also tested my Gecko 002 fix channel with the American Madworld and it also works perfectly.

I have a PAL Wii with Wiikey and did this from 3.2 E


EDIT: I do notice that I cannot install any WADs with Waninkoko's WAD installer. I get a 2011 error. Damn!
Any solutions???

I did this, works very well, just I wasn't able to load the 0RANGECHiCKEN's SSB, nor copy it back to Wii Memory. Oh well.

1) I can install those IOS installers through the Twilight Hack and Wad Manager, right?
2) I take it there isn't a homebrew app to install wads directly to a SD card yet? That would eliminate the risk of banner bricking your Wii

Did you have a cIOS installed before upgrading? If so, try using the latest Wad Manager (1.3). If not, I don't know if there's a way to do it.

I just tried installing a wad, and it worked OK.
Maybe you didnt install a Cios before you upgraded?

Hmm... I'm having a problem. I followed the instructions as displayed. But during the wii update I received an error. The new sd feature appears to be present, and it says I'm on firmware 4.0, but when I try to load a game from the sd, it goes back to the wii menu. I tried reinstalling the IOS60 again, and tried updating a couple times, but still get the error. Any ideas?

No I've had no cIOS installed. I recently did install IOS53-64-v4113.wad.
I always use Wad installer 2.1 but it only gives me 2011 errors right now.
I'll try the Wad manager 1.3....I hope it will work.... Thanks for the help anyway.

EDIT: Shit, did I read that right? Did I need to have a cIOS installed???? I did not read that anywhere!! Am I totally fucked now??
