Well, My friend recently brought a used PSP from Gamestop.
It was working fine for like a month now until a big storm came along.
He says that he was out in the storm that day with his PSP in his bookbag!
When he went home to try it out... the BOTTOM buttons fail to work.
What I mean by fail is that:
HOME: Mutes the PSP
Vol - : Fails to respond
Vol + : Adjusts Brightness (WTF!?)
Bright : Adjusts brightness
Music note : Nothing
Select : VSH menu then freezes
Start : Start

It's a PSP 1001 with GEN-D3 CFW installed and trust me,
It's not the firmware because I swore that I flashed 10 Different CFWs!
It's a hardware problem!
Any thoughts on how to fix this before I tell my friend to sell this?

EDIT: I forgot to mention! The volume automatically goes down during start up!

You could try and replace the home ribbon cable. and see what happens
I can replace it...But where do I get the parts? And I'm not going to use online stores! Too un-trust worthy!

It's been a month...

Don't you get like 6 months warranty. (Similar shop here in AUST gives 1 year minimum)
I'm pretty sure he lost everything else except the important stuff...
I'm pretty sure that we can still get something back from it though...
Do you think they'll notice if you already opened up your PSP?

Not gamestop used console, unless you can buy warranty from them. Not sure about 360 since they have problems.. They are going to need a receipt if under 30 days. And they don't buy broken systems for very much iirc.

If you've damaged it from opening it up... lol

They check the gamestop warranty stickers when I returned my used 360 that had laser issues, but that was basically it.

You might as well fix it then. Does everything else work apart from those buttons?
Everything else is fine! It's kind of hard to play Metal Gear PW without hearing your own footsteps though...
Oh Yeah! I forgot! I'll edit first post for the biggest issue here!

So you've flashed it with 5.50 GEN, Official Firmware 6.31, 5.00M33? Just to see a difference.

I also flashed it with 3.90 M33, 4.01 M33, 5.00 M33-1,2,3,4,5, and 6
I also flashed an official firmware (not really 6.31) and it didn't work
It's probably the hardware

I think the connections of your friend's Button bar are screwed. Meaning you'll need to replace/fix them. There is tutorials on Youtube, but you'll need parts...
I already opened it and I already tried fixing/cleaning it! No dice... Not gonna replace it
I'll just tell him to return it!

The plugins map the buttons to other ones but the problem is that the volume automatically goes down...
My friend bought Kingdom Hearts BBS with it so it was $150 altogether.
