This is just informational, for anybody who cares!

I was bored and decided to use my Kii U Generator program to generate title keys for every single title id found on *that key site* and cross referenced the output. Assuming all the info provided by the key site is correct, these are my findings:

Of all the titles that have title keys available on the key site, almost all of the titles, 3425 of them, had the correct key generated using the password: mypass

Of all the remaining titles with title keys available, 128 of them, NONE of them were correctly generated using ANY of the following known passwords: mypass, nintendo, test
Here is the list of titles that I couldn't generate correct keys for using these passwords

That's weird. Somebody told me the eShop itself is encrypted with test (but I didn't confirm). Maybe it's time for some kind of rainbow table or dictionary attack? ;)

I searched for the first 10 on https://wiiubrew.org/wiki/Title_database#00050000:_eShop_and_disc_titles and it seems they aren't available in digital form (disc only releases). I also searched for "Mass Effect" on the eShop and it says: "Wii U (Disc)" and you can't purchase it digitally.

Of all the remaining titles with title keys available, 128 of them, NONE of them were correctly generated using ANY of the following known passwords: mypass, nintendo, test
Here is the list of titles that I couldn't generate correct keys for using these passwords
OK, I remembered this today and took a look.
Most of those system titles in your list use the password "5678".
The game updates use the password "Lucy131211"

That's weird. Somebody told me the eShop itself is encrypted with test (but I didn't confirm). Maybe it's time for some kind of rainbow table or dictionary attack? ;)

ME3 also flushes your CFW when you start it. No other game kicks me back to CBHC on exit. (I got it for £3, I already have the trilogy - as you can guess I like those games)

If you're going to install it, the Brazilian method may be a must.

I'm new to this, so I don't know what title keys are or how to get them, but some other posts threads say that disc-only releases (like Cabela's 2013) don't have a title key and can only be extracted from a disc in-hand.

With NUSspli you won't need to care about title keys but you're also not able to download disc-only releases with it. Other than that every title has a key. Disc keys where hacked to keys working everwhere (meaning you could run the titles without a CFW) back in the days (IIRC that was called team brazilian method).

To prove my words, this is from a title key indexing website (need to censore the keys to be allowed to post it here through) :

I was talking to Maschell about this just the other day, and the "Brazilian method" is actually a bit overrated. Real disc keys taken straight from retail discs are already usable unmodified. It's just that the disc dumper DiscU used to have a bug which was slightly corrupting disc keys. The "Brazilian method" was just fixing the corruption, so the keys were being repaired rather than hacked. Once the DiscU bug was patched, the Brazilian method was no longer needed because the clean keys just work out of the box.

There's no US version listed, since it never got an E-Shop release here.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
