Must-play Hidden Gems?

I know youtube has made some Hidden Gem Games extremely well-known over the last decade, but whar are, in your opinion, games that are absolute must-plays among the lesser known Hidden Gems? Any Generation, any System!

I would like to add one ive played for the first time only recently!

Cannon Fodder for GBC!



Its seriously fun, graphically super pretty (especially the fake 3D Intro/Menu Screen! and the controls... are pretty great! Yeah, seriously. Ive never played a game before that let you use a DPAD as a mouse-replacement where it was actually well-done! That alone deserves respect

... aaaand DAIKATANA!!!

No, seriously! Daikatana is actually really great!... but ONLY on the GBC!
The GBC port is not a shooter... its Zelda!
No really. It plays pretty much like a dark sci-fi Zelda and that is such a cool experience!
They took a serious departure for the GBC and its genuinely the best version of Daikatana for ANY platform!

oh, i reaaaally love this one! PoPoLoCrois Monogatari for PS1!
This one never properly came to the west, sadly.
But thanks to Stardust Crusaders, aishsha and paul_met we finally have an english-language version of it! <3
PoPoLoCrois 1 and 2 got an abridged PSP port with a lot of content missing and only now that the whole trilogy is fantranslated for PS1 can we finally experience, by far, one of the most beautiful 2D 32bit games ever made.

I seriously love this game and im sure YOU, yes YOU!! reading this on a screen right NOW! will love it too.
Its so cute and heartfelt and magical and funny.
Its a crying shame we had to wait this long to experience this series in all its glory.
Thank god for the fantranslation-scene <3

Fantranslated to perfection, this awesome game for the NES can be enjoyed fully in english thanks to Aeon Genesis!

Quite possibly one of the prettiest RPGs ever made for the little cartridge-toaster <3
