Doesn't look like too much size difference from the nyko battery -- that's good
5800 mAmps is OMG good.
Problem is . . . it's $100 bucks. [cue Price is Right fail melody]

@Team Fail--thanks

Ouch. 100 bucks is a lot.

I should've checked the price first before getting all hot and bothered over this. Especially considering how much the Nyko pack costs, $20 for 2300 mAh is just a better deal than $100 for 5800 mAh. But also consider that the Mugen pack is about the same size and (probably) weight as Nyko's... Argh.

Is 5800 mAh, roughly 4.46x the stock 1300 mAh juice, even necessary?

Feel like it should be at max $40.00,but maybe I'm underestimating the value.

Imagine Nintendo finding and using this battery. $349

I'd peg it at around $50 as it's a little more than twice the Nyko pack costs but with the same size, but I guess the technology for manufacturing power cells twice the capacity with no size/weight compromise is just not mainstream enough.

I would get this if it didn't cost so much. Then again, my Nyko battery is working quiet nicely AND comes with a dock for $30.
They need to drop the price for people to actually give it a second look.

How long does this battery last compared to the Nyko?

The Nyko battery's 2300 mAh, this one by Mugen is 5800 mAh which theoretically also translates to 2.45x longer battery life than the Nyko (about 4.45x longer than the stock battery).

I ended up buying this: http://cgi.ebay.ph/5000mAh-Battery-Nintend...=item1c1b56e4de

It's a 5000 mAh battery, very similar in style to the Mugen, but for PHP 1600 (~$36 at the time of posting). I've bought cellphone batteries from this brand before and they're hit-and-miss. Will probably end up writing a review on this after a month or so of use.

It's funny, I bought this battery before I ended up buying my 3DS.

For some reason it seems to small to be a 5000 mAh. I'll wait for review till I make any claims.

Just wait for the Nyko Shock n' Rock or Power Grip. Both of those give 3x the battery life for $40 and $30 respectively.

Why was the first thing that popped into my head when I read this was 'Mugen the Hand'?

Too much Inazuma Eleven.

I'd buy this, if it weren't for the price and size.

Because it makes the 3DS bulkier than it ever had to be? That think just looks.... monstrous to me.

I still don't get how people complain about the size of the 3DS. I mean, has no one ever sat it next to their DS Lite or DSi? It's smaller than both of them! It's just heavier. -.-

Personally, though, I wouldn't mind the extra weight. Maybe I could even use the damned thing as a weapon at that point.

IMO, the battery life is acceptable. Not quite pleasant, but okay.
I'm not gonna open the beauty up and replace it just for a few extra hours of life when I really have a charger.
