So, I had a 9.2.0-20U old 3ds non xl with 4.x mset, but I softbricked it by trying ro downgrade to 2.1. If I update my 3ds through recovery mode, will I still have my 4.x mset?

Probably not. Even if it did, you will be updating to 11.0 and that patches any downgrade attempts (and MSEThax CFW) unless you hardmod and inject an old FIRM that allows it.

What's the current system state? The softbrick prevents you from booting the system? How do you know it failed? Have you tried booting without SD card?

I know it failed because before finishing downgrade, it gives me the error screen. Once I reboot it, It stays on the black screen.

I assume it is not working. Yet you ask if you can restore the system. I would be genuinely surprised if you could reach system restore.

If system restore menu works, you could try updating and be locked afterwards in 11.0.

I recomend you to get a hardmod. you should have done a sysnand backup and the hardmod will help you restore it back.
