I have the same problem.

I have IOS202 installed.

In 0.72, I can load MPlayerCE from SD card and play video files on USB device.

However, when I tried to load MPlayerCE from USB device, there's message like "can't find dol .....".

just a question. djdynamite mentioned on tehskeen that mplayer_ce has no error handling concerning badly encoded files. when are you planing to integrate ss like this. the reason for asking is, that the only problem i have with mplayer_ce are random freezes on some videofiles. mostly if the files are about 700-800mb and are more than 1:15 long then i'll get the freeze about half of the movie. after restarting and jumping to a point short before the freeze the player has no problem playing beyond the point of the previous hang.

Yeah, this is a problem that I hope to be fixed soon also. As it's a pretty big issue..

Also, it would be great if they could set MPCE up so that it can update itself to a new version. Just like the HomebrewChannel and HomebrewBrowser are able to do. As I mod friends Wii's, and it would be great if it could just update for them. Since some don't even have SD card readers, or care/know how to update apps and whatnot.

I love this application and the fact that it freezes about 30-45 minutes into a movie is only a small hiccup. It seems that once you reset and start the movie over, everything runs just fine.

So....I hope they're able to fix this issue, in time, if it is a coding problem. Otherwise, I'll keep chugging along using the wii as a media center.

Speaking of, does anyone know of a media center you can buy at the store, preferably one that will stream xvids from the computer?

Tia.

I know this bug but it's hard to find.
The new version 0.75 with NTFS and FTP support seems to be more stable.
I think the problem is in the sync code, something about gettime function not returning proper value, I've modify libogc and now is more stable but sometimes I get a freeze.
I'll release 0.75 soon, but probably next week

Ahh, I *finally* fixed the freezing/audio sync issues in this player while playing DVD movies. It was DVDX that was the issue. I installed IOS202 from Hermes latest cIOS installer (v3) and it works fine now. Who woulda guessed!

great find. maybe the mplayer_ce-team should bundle a cios with mplayer_ce with all the needed features like usb 2.0, fixed dvd playback, etc.
mplayer_ce use a special cios based on hermes work, is in mplayer_ce website.

If you install this cios you needn't to install dvdx because cios is patched to support dvd directly without dvdx and you'll have usb2 support and a better wifi connection, so I recommend to install this cios

do you have DVDx installed? do you have the cIOS installed? if either of them are installed it "will" work just you have don't something wrong like used a +r or rw and not set the bit.

my games play fine from the same disks, i am using the newest ciscorp to run backups and mediaplayer ce, avi files will not load from a disk it will play regular dvds and run avi from sd but not from disk, i had someone tell me no backup loaders run avi from disk yet , is this correct?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
