Hacking Move save from cart to use by .cia version?

PowerSaves and other utilities can save/restore save files from cartridges.
SaveDataFiler can export and import saves from .CIA (installed, eshop) games.
A physical cartridge can be converted into a .CIA.

Two questions:
1. Am I correct that SaveDataFiler cannot export/import saves from/to a cartridge?
2. Is there a tool chain that allows moving the save data from a physical cartridge, and applying it to that same game (installed via .CIA)? (if so, can you please give pointers or otherwise list the tools needed?)

OK to presume CFW, hardmod, PowerSaves dongle, SaveDataFiler, etc. ...

SavedataFiler can dump your cartridge savedata. also can transfer your cartridge save to Download game. (other word CIA format game) I Do not know any exception.

i use jksm to transfer my saves. i have transferred between the cartridge and cia version of the game in both directions with it.

This does work quite well, I used it to transfer all my saves.

SaveDataFiler works for points 1 & 2.

Its been awhile since I did it, but I remember that you have several options with where to copy the save file from CTR (which is the cart).

And I believe you want to choose 'install to SD' if you want it to work with CIA.

Aha! I didn't realize JKSM supported games using the secure value, last I looked JKSM had some limitations there. Tried it, and it worked wonderfully! Now I don't have to worry about losing my carts. Awesome!

I believe you both, I guess I just didn't figure out the UI. I'm now using JKSM, as it works and has a nicer UI.

Interesting, are you referring to the built-in tool in system settings? I've never tried to use this....

Depending on the game you might need fbi installer delete secure function to make saves compatible. I'm not entirely sure how it works, but i needed when i imported super smash bros save from cart to cia.
