4.1 and 4.0 are identical except the WM+ video fix. He should still be able to use a chip on 4.1. As for IOS60 being patched, if that is the case, a chip and homebrew DVD will do instead.

Also, updating 4.0 to 4.1 will not overwrite IOS60 since 4.0 and 4.1 both use v6174. If it was patched, it will remain patched.

If the update does not fix is issue, and it may not, his only hope is a nand fill into data management which could fail. He is in a much better position to fix the wii on 4.0 than he will be on 4.1.

From his description, I think that the update is likely to fail since you was not mucking around with anything.

Well, I don't know if I installed IOS60... I did update from 3.4U to 4.0U via Waninkoko firmware updater, don't know if that has anything to do?

He's better off staying there if he want to try the fish disk, especially since the update was Wanin's stubless version.

I was thinking NAND fill to start with, so the stub didn't even come to mind.

Does waninkoko's firmware updater patch ios60? It would be nice if it did.

No it didn't. You had to do it with a separate IOS60 patcher tool.

Note that both of these apps now brick your wii if used.

You have two options. One is free, the other is not. The one that cost $ provides more options to fix the wii.

But you will have to decide for yourself.

I did what BlackAce83 said, and it updated to 4.1 with NSMB!!!
