Don't go installing all those files without knowing what you're doing. Use a wizard to actually install things. The download queues were built to have you download files u would need for various scenarios, but depending what you're doing not all should get installed or some may overwrite others etc

So followed the instructions as closely as possible but here was my. experience:
    - the auto generated instructions aren’t that clear - the very first step where it asks you to installed BootMii, didn’t work. I had to google for solutions and realized I had to use LetterBomb or something by going to the ‘Today’ section go to yesterday and click on that letterbomb
    - did all the other steps ie installing homebrew, then priiloader, ios, and all the WADs (as listed in the ModMii instructions) via multi mod

    End result:
    - USB Loader doesn’t work - it keeps automatically exiting back the to Wii menu (without ever going into then main USB loader menu screen)
    - The BootMii menu is now the first thing that comes up and given it doesn’t seem to support Wiimotes, have to constantly use the GameCube controller to get into the Wii proper
    - not sure what Priiloader is supposed to be doing, the ModMii instructions recommended turning a few hacks on but there isn’t an option to ‘save’ settings on that menu so not sure those things are even applying

Modmii explains how to run an exploit like letterbomb to launch the hackmii installer. If you are using a Syscheck updater wizard and you already have an older version of the HBC installed ModMii will tell you to launch the installer from there. So you most likely didn't read your guide close enough. If you want to share your guide that would be great then I can point out where you missed it.

Priiloader definitely has an option to save hacks, so not sure what you're talking about there either.

The modmii guide tells you how to avoid having bootmii load upon launch (by renaming the bootmii folder on the SD card to something different). Again it seems you didn't read the guide very closely.

I'm not sure why your USB loader isn't working, you may have skipped over another step since it seems like something you might do given the above. It could be a cios didn't install properly, it could be an incompatible USB hard drive (or one that is very slow to initialize), it could be your hard drive isn't formatted properly, it could be as simple as you don't have the hard drive plugged into port 0 but instead port 1.

As a first step, try posting a Syscheck and again if you can share your original guide so we can confirm it contains instructions for the steps you say are missing that would be great

Edit: why did you quote my reply to someone else that has nothing to do with this? I just now realized you weren't the same person I was advising earlier in the post you quoted.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your advice. The Syscheck results are in the spoiler section below, as advised in the guide elsewhere.

Apologies for quoting someone else's post, I'm new to this forum and not very experienced in using it properly.

QUESTION: Would it help if I tried doing the entire process again from the start - This time, double and triple checking every step?

    Re: USB loader not working:
    - cios not working: I was fairly meticulous in selecting which WADS to install step-by-step as advised by the ModMii generated guide
Otherwise: Let me explain what happened specifically,
    1) After completing what I thought were all the steps in the ModMii guide (incl installing all the WADs); the first time I tried using USB Loader (before connecting any external HD) it loaded up. I was in the main menu, of course no games were listed there
    2) I shut down the Wii
    3) I then used WBFS manger 4.0 (64bit) to format my external HD - and copied a couple games into it (Wii Sports Resort and Skyward Sword)
    4) I plugged this into the HD into the first (outermost USB board as most guides online seemed to suggest) and started the Wii. It was at this point that USB loader refused to load (note: I even tried loading it without having the HD plugged in and the same thing happens). Specifically, this is what I see on screen
    - You get the USB loader splash screen with the Wii mote type visual
    - Then you get the wii-black tiles screen and it throws me back out to the main wii menu

Btw, you were absolutely right and I did miss some steps in the ModMii guide that was generated. I could blame my two boys who were driving me nuts at the time I was attempting to do this - but really that's no excuse. Thanks for your patience.

I am now repeating the entire process from launching ModMii for the first time, re-copying files to the SD card and everything. This time triple checking each step before I proceed. Wish me luck - and thanks again!

Using wbfs manager means you deviated from the modmii guide. Let's say for example you selected to have the usb loader app saved to a FAT32 USB hard drive (impossible to know given the info you provided, if you share you guide parameters it would help), when you formatted it to wbfs using wbfs manager you would've deleted it. That would explain why it's not working anymore. You can't mix and match guides and instructions and expect things to work...

Ideally you would leave your HDD formatted as fat32 using the method described in the modmii guide, and wii backup manager software instead of wbfs manager.

If u start over using just modmii's USB loader set up guide and don't make up your own steps it should work.

Your syscheck looks good btw, so no issue with the cios's u got installed

Followed it carefully this time and...it's WORKING. You're awesome! And really appreciate your patience with my earlier oversights!

Is there anything I can do to show my appreciation for your work and help? Contribution on GoFundMe, Patreon etc?

I've been there so can totally sympathize. I got 3 boys (6,4 and 2 years old) and a 4th kid due in 4-5 weeks (unknown gender). Chaos is the new normal and shit happens, lol, all good my friend

If I don't want to have any more kids I may need to enforce that rule on my wife (I. E. never touch MY Wii, that's what got us in this mess with 4 kids to begin with! Lol)
