step 1 should be done after the last step as i couldnt do step 1 until i had reinstalled hbc

No I never said you don't need to install IOS236, step 1 (installing IOS236 only requires HBC 1.0.7 or > (which is installed when you run bannerbomb on 4.2, or Indiana Pwns/Smash Stack/Yu Gi Oh's on 4.3 as stated in the guide).

To get the HBC to use IOS 58, it (IOS 58) must be installed prior to running the hackmii installer (which on a 4.2 it won't be there). Which is why when you run YAWM Multimod Batch it installs IOS 58, and then at the end of the guide, we tell you to run the hackmii installer if the HBC is running on 61 (which means you were on 4.2 prior to following the guide).

Make sense?

I think the ModMii tool is alot better:

Competely automated. Any difference between this guide and ModMii?

Actually, this guide is more automated. Modmii is more versatile and advanced, while this guide is faster and MUCH simpler. Regardless, I like how you come in here stating that ModMii is better, and then ask if this guide is different (when it is obvious you don't know).

okay, I've been fighting with the YAWM Multimod Batch -installer for quite a while now, it always returns
"cIOS202[57]-v5.wad error -1" for all of the wads

. I've got a virgin 4.3E Wii with bootmii as IOS only, IOS236 installs fine.

Earlier in this topic the advice was to try another SD-card (tried both SDHC and SD with a few different adapters), reformat it, download the files again... I've been trying that stuff but it just doesn't work any better. It succeeds in playing around with the wads but fails in the end. Other things seem to work from the SD-cards, so is it really just about them? Any tips on what to do, just keep on formating and borrowing SD-cards

?

Is there any way to do this step through wifi or something?

I'm also suffering somewhat from the stack dumps with the batch installer, they seem quite random.. sometimes they don't appear even though I haven't touched the .txt -file in sdcard:/wad

You can delete the txt file, and manually select IOS236 and sd card (this will fix the stack dumps). But as far as the error -1, that is an error reading the sd card, so I'm afraid that won't fix it. You can try to use another wad manager (multi mod manager isn't bad). Just toss it in the apps directory, and see if it can read the sd card (obviously, you will need to load IOS236 before attempting to install the wads). Either way, let me know.

ive only ever followed this guide for cracking the wiis and ive never had a problem...

recently got a 4.3e over to do and i followed the guide using the idiana pwns hacjk.. it all worked fine... i installed cfg usb loader and it says

custom ios 222 could not be loaded -1

ive installed it again and it still wasnt working...

Config says cIOS couldn't be loaded? Sounds like it didn't install it. Post a syscheck.

Yo I CBA To Read All That But Is It Safe On My Wii Version 4.3E. And Is There Any Other Way Except For Having Those Games?

Thanks, Maninder!!!

The YAWM batch installer is not foolproof. I tried it on a black Wii and it always DSI's when launched. Of course that was after ios236 was installed.

Another vintage Wii (first batch) didn't have this issue..

Thanks Erik!

I used MMM to install the wads, and I think it turned out ok. The seven wads are found in the directory and they install smoothly. I can see the new IOS in MMM's IOS manager just fine (I think... for example IOS223 is found to be "Hermes cIOS or STUB" v65535 and IOS202 is "Kwiirk's cIOS", which both seem to be new and what I want?)

After that I continued to install the priiloader, though I can't directly boot into HBC from it (it can't find HBC), it seems to be working just fine

. Is there any simple way to check that the wads are installed and work as they should, other then noticing that they don't when I continue further?

use Multi-mod manager instead, whic has the batch install option

As said several times in the topic, delete the wm_config.txt file (found in /wad), and manually select IOS 236 and SD card when prompted.

I've done approx 20 wii's with it, and haven't had an issue (which means I can't troubleshoot it). If you still have the wii which had the issue, do you mind messing around in the wm_config.txt file and see if you can find which line causes the error (remove them one at a time), and perhaps try moving it above or below other lines to see if it magically fixes it?

Thx

Hey guys,

I'm trying to softmod a Japanese Wii system 4.2J. I've done numerous NTSC systems and never had a problem with the guide... so I'm not a noob at this. This is however the first Japanese system I've ever tried to softmod
smile.gif

I followed the instructions and got the bannerbomb to work - installed the homebrew channel and put bootmii as an ios since it said I cannot install it as boot2

I fired up the HBC after that, did step 1 - installed ok!

When I try step 2 I get a crash error on my wii - Exception (DSI) occurred with a load of numbers.

I tried to use DOP-IOS 14.5 to manually patch instead. When it loaded, it failed on the Trucha bug. Everything else said it was ok. I tried reinstalling the IOS15 again and it didn't look like it patched it or anything.

Next step was trying to use the Trucha Bug Restorer to try and patch the system but it said IOS15 needed to be downgraded. I tried doing the downgrade and it said it failed.

At this point I'm at a loss on what I need to do next to get system patched up.

Any help, suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I don't know why you are trying to patch ios15... but if you would read the post directly above yours, you would see that you just need to delete wm_config.txt file, and manually select ios 236 and sd card.

@karyuudo : Mmm... I assume step 1 was a successful install of ios236? Then logic will already hint that a fakesigned ios36 has already been installed as a cios in slot 236. So TBR is already not needed. You are not being flexible

@burritoboy9984 : Thanks for the tip will delete the config file and see...

does this pack include cios 38 rev 17 or will i need to install that separately?

Grab the cios.zip pack, you will find the wad for rev 17 in there if you REALLY want to use it... Just replace the one for 20 with that one 249 with 249 or 250 with 250...

i understand what your saying but i dont think u understand what im saying u answered part of the question
i currently had my wii on 4.2e already modified and was just updating the "Modify 4.2/4.3" stuff: ios, hbc getting the cios wads etc
(currently with hbc of 1.0.6) and it was the problem since it worked after install of newer version of hbc (1.0.8)
but your guide doesnt state i need v 1.07 or later to install IOS236 as u just pointed out
all it says is
