Tutorial Modify ANY Wii 4.3 & below

I have a wii that I updated and works great now. I have my own wii that is currently still at 3.3 firmware. Is updating it to 4.2 using the guide enough or do I still need to modify it to 4.2 afterwards?
if the update part were to modify your wii, then why would i have a modify section?

you can downgrade 4.2?
yeah, buts its not recommended to go past 4.0/4.1

No bootmii as boot2 option

what do i do can I use preloader on 4.2E??

I was able to follow this guide to perfectly and completely softmod my LU64+ version wii. Obviously it only installed bootmii as IOS.

My question is that I can get a new wii from a small store in a strip mall near my house that has a serial number PRIOR to LU64. I think it is a LU62 serial number.

Is there any great advantage to me selling this and buying the LU62 version wii?

Is it a big plus to have a LU62 so I can load bootmii in memory?

What other major advantages would I have by getting the LU62 wii ?

I'm unsure about bootmii as IOS

I reckon if u install preloader then if anything went wrong you could load bootmii from that, I would set preloader to never start up unless forced

my questions are what does preloader do when a new disc is inserted (with any updates) and is preloader ok on 4.2

I just did the modify.zip on a clean 4.2U everything works fine, I installed cIOS249 and 250 rev 14..... but when I load up neogamma R7, its giving me disc error 1101, I installed DVDX what can I do to make it read the burnt disc?

I get to the Modify 4.2 section and I am going through the Install homebrew via bannerbomb and it is freezing when I select the SD.

have you tried the different versions of bannerbomb and are you launching it correctly from the little sd card on the main menu

maybe you have a d3-2 drive.
look into usb loading.

correct, you cant.

but you can safely downgrade IOS15, thats about it though.

Nothing special, just download latest priiloader rev 30 from wiki or modify.zip and enjoy.

It really isn't necessary to avoid 4.2

4.2 can be fully hacked and it will be much easier for a n00b to find instruction on hacking a 4.2 right now than it is to find instruction for a n00b to update to 4.0/4.1 (even though the process is extremely easy)

actually rev 30 has a couple bugs (mostly involving booting to priiloader randomly even if u have autoboot set to something else).

Dont want to steer him wrong and have to try fix his messed up wii. I did update to 4.0n way back when so I didnt need all these steps.

yes, do not be afraid of 4.2, its new "security" was cracked twice in the first week it was released (once by cboot2, then again by the easier more common solution of bannerbomb v2).

Can I use this tutorial to get my wii updated? and get the newest versions
of backuploader. HBC and install the CFG usb-loader
