Gang,

While using TruchaRestorer, I successfully downgraded but when trying to restore ios15, I keep getting a DSI error and code dump. i'm on 4.2.

Anyone have a solution to this?

Thanks for the EXCELLANT GUIDES for all systems.. I just have 1 issue with Modify 4.2. Ive gotten to the very end to enable system menu hacks but i cannot get the preloader to install. Either .30 or .29 . Bootmii is installed as an IOS - was the only choice i had with this 4.2U.

I got the aborting mission, like it says, but the preloaderv0.29-jodi.dol doesnt start. I copied the preloader30 folder and deleted the boot.dol, renamed the preloaderv0.29-jodi.dol to boot.dol then renamed the folder to preloader29. Thinking it would install the .29 version, it didnt... The other question I have also is regarding the hacks.ini file, do you need to delete what you dont want for every version. AND what version MUST be there for a NTSC Wii??

any thing ive missed? First 4.2U outta the box so to speak, done a few 3.2 without issue. Its just the very last step in the modify 4.2 that needs to be done to play backups without a HDD ( for now anyways ) Its the Nieces and she doesnt even have a PC ATM. Ive grabbed about 100 titles for her so that should keep her busy for awhile

Thanks! Manage to installed priiloader.. now what???
Make sure you have the hacks.ini is in the root of you SD card and when you start up your Wii Preloader should load. If not hold the Reset button while starting up.

Well i think i managed to install it.. I already had installed PreLoader (I had used the guide in this thread and PreLoader needs to be installed), and from my SD Card browser I launched the priiloader file and installed it.. I think it worked like that. What i do not know is:

1. Shall I leave my Wii to boot at the System Hacks Menu and let it be the main screen when starting?
2. Are any settings lost on reboot? Do i need to reset anything?
3. After finishing softmoding i burnet EA Grand Tennis and EA NFS Nitro. First did not launch at all (freezing at main logo screen), second launched ok (only played it for 3-4 minutes but seemed ok). Is it a game issue? Don't ALL games play on Wii with SoftMod?
4. Is it ok for ALL games to run from a USB Drive instead of DVD? I have not tried running games from USB yet, but assume it can be more convenient if i got all ISOs on one place and just run whichever i want
smile.gif

5. What about the Miis i had created? Will now habe any role that all loading of games is done by the HBC?

Thanks a lot! Guide was perfect!!

1. no, go the priiloaders settings and change to boot to: to system menu.
2. you have to save the settings by choosing save settings
3. not all games play perfectly. how are you loading the game?
4. yea it perfectly fine, buy an HDD
5. ? your Mii's are unaffected whatsoever.

Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS
Run WAD Manager 1.5
When it opens choose IOS36. (it is probably already set to that)
Press A to leave NAND emulator disabled.
Press A to open from SD slot.
Install IOS70-v6687.wad
Install IOS202-v4.wad
Install IOS222-v4.wad
Install IOS223-v4.wad
Install IOS249-v14.wad
Install IOS250-v65535.wad

Q. Just wanted to make sure on a virgin 4.2 setup when I get to this step I don't need to do the IOS70-v6687.wad install if I'm not going to install preloader. This IOS70-v6687.wad has the pre-req for preloader yes?

Thanks

I have a US v3.2, softmodded with the HBC and gamma channel...
If I use this guide, will it bring me up to speed, with everything that I need so far to play all these new games?

I managed to do the first part with no problems whatsoever, but when I extract modify.zip to the sd, my Wii freezes as I select the SD card menu and forces me to remove the power cord in order for it to reset. I tried formatting the SD card (always as FAT, don't know if that matters) quite a few times and inserting the files again and also downloaded modify.zip again, with no luck. Is there a way to fix this?

Anyone, please?

I have a MOD WII firmware 4.2E bootmii and HBC on SD.
I tried to update the wii following a guide on internet, but using the app DOP-IOS i was not able to install IOS70.

So I tried following the guide of xzxero to downgrade at 4.1
I did a NAND backup with bootmii and i saved on PC, and deleted fromSD, the bootmii folder and NAND.bin file (no keys found).
Now when i launch the WADmanager 1.5 and i choose the IOS249 if i push the A button the app freeze.

What can i do?
I'm looking everywhere on this forum... but i don't understand enough about IOS

I had the same problem, i guess you formatted you SD card after stage 1 upgrade to 4.2.

well you deleted the Bootmii folder and files.

all I did was load bannerbomb back up and go to the install bootmii, then used prep SD card.

rebooted the wii, started HBC and start bootmii

easy fixed

Was I not supposed to? I thought the instructions stated in both Update to 4.2 and Modify 4.2: "You can then erase everything from the update.zip & setup everything from the modify.zip" and "Backup the Bootmii folder, NAND.bin, & keys.bin elsewhere & erase from the sd card. [or rename it.]," respectively.

I'm not sure I understand what happened and I just want to clarify: Suppose I copy the contents of the modify.zip back onto the SD card and run bannerbomb again to install BootMii as an IOS, am I supposed to keep the BootMii folder on the SD card at all times afterwards or is it then in the system memory? And if it's in the system memory, why didn't it remain after the first time?

Edit: Reading around some more and it would appear I just have to copy the BootMii folder I backed-up back onto the root of the SD card. I'll try it when I get home.

Thanks for the help. After all of the reading I've done, I thought I had my head wrapped around how everything works on the Wii. I guess I was wrong.

Can I use this guide If I updated my Wii to 4.2 via an official Nintendo update rather than the instructions detailed at the top?

I'm sure this has been asked before but after going through the past 10 or so pages I couldn't find someone else asking the same question and figured I'd probably get a reply quicker!!

QUOTEFor those who are already softmodded and would like to try this guide to update your cIOS and whatnot, i actually recommend to update via Nintendo to get to a virgin 4.2. I mean, when it first came out, it was not recommended at all to update, only if you wanted a headache. But know with the new updated applications it's safe to say you can easily mod 4.2 wii's now. The only thing i recommend is for cIOScorp users wanting to update to 4.2 should install a clean IOS30 via DOP-IOS to avoid any problems with the hackmii installer.

I'm currently on 3.3 virgin (unmodded). So with the this recommend, I shoud :

1) update to 4.2 directly via Nintendo
2) start at the begining of the section "4.2 Method"

Could someone confirm it please?

yes.
confirmed.

Just found this a while ago.

Niceone cheers.

Are you sure you're accessing the SD card properly? There's a slight difference accessing bannerbomb on the SD card between the Update part and the Modify part. It froze on me until I looked at the instructions more closely.

So I have read all 150 pages and I think I am ready to give it a go. I am a little cautious because its more my wifes wii, she uses it for wii fit all the time. I read some about how games won't load from the game channel is that just backups or all games. I just want to make sure she can still turn it on and play her game just like before with out any hassles or any legit game disc for that matter. Also This won't affect our miis or any of the save game data will it? This is awesome I can't wait to try it. Thanks for all your hard work!

I got the aborting mission error, like it says, but the preloaderv0.29-jodi.dol wont load. How to install the 29-jodi version first?
