I read a little bit about being able to load wads from sd card thru the system menu. How does one accomplish this? I have a couple of wads on my sd card in a "WAD" folder, but the sd card menu doesn't recognize them. any help?

I have a 4.0U wii and installed the 4.2 method, all the steps worked but my wii settings is still with 4.0U.
What should I do?

tks

I did exactly the same thing as this guy
Very naughty I know, especially with the 'read everything' disclaimers lol!

But... everything is working fine? No crazy behaviour...
Is it worth loading my nand dump from before following the 4.2 guide, then upgrading to 4.2 via nintendo and then repeating them.

Or upgrade via nintendo now, and repeat steps.

Or leave as is?

I apologise for the silly mistake!

Thanks for the guide.

But this guide does NOT work for "any Wii", at least not the backup part.
The latest Wii's with D3-2 chipset does not launch backups from DVD, no matter what.

It may be my fault for not reading every thread on the forums but adding a note to that regard would not hurt.
it still works for any wii because those wii's can still load off a USB loader using the cIOS from the guide.
so its still modded.

Look, people come here and take a look at your guide to see which Wii's can be softmodded. At least i did.
I know it was stupid on my behalf to trust your guide when it says "5] Allows your Wii to play Wii backups directly from the disc channel, through a backup loader, and/or via usb." but I simply hadn't read about D3-2 at that point.
It would be great if you could mention that these new Wiis exist and that they will only allow USB loading. Or change the 5] sentence.

I did all that was said in the guide
ended up with a upside down homebrew channel
I tried fixing it with the solution given in the guide site (the say no to hash thing)
It didnt worked
But an upside down homebrew is w/e
the rest of the menu works fine so
I install neo gamma
and click A to load the game
and black screen comes and it doesnt do anything else
have to reset (hold power for some seconds)
anyone got an Idea of why is this happening?

You need to install them unsing WAD manager first, and then move them to the SD card on the system menu.

I need help please

I'm stuck @ this step of the guide - using the google online guide posted in this thread

Code:
TIP
It is highly recommended to install Waninkokos cIOS now.

6. Time to patch our System menu IOS (IOS70) to run wads from SD card menu
* Run DOP-IOS. Go right till you see IOS70. Choose yes for every option and let it install. Reboot your wii.

Last thing I did was this "5. Run Any Title Deleter MOD and choose IOS36 and press A. Navigate to System Titles and press A. Find IOS 222, 223, 249, 250. Press A twice to uninstall them."

But if I try to instal waninkoko it freezes in the menu.
If I try the DOP-IOS it doesnt load, it just stays black screen.
Any help on this please?

xzxero,
I am on 4.1 U so id I want to update to 4.2, I just follow the guide "Update to 4.2"

After that, do I need to follow "Modify 4.2" ? I saw the difference Update to 4.2 and Modify 4.2 it have

1. Making a NAND backup
2. Restoring the Trucha Bug
3. Deleting stub IOS's
4. Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS

If needed to follow modify 4.2, is Installing The Homebrew Channel & Bootmii can be skip or need to do it one more time.

One advice is, use the googlesite guide and doing things online is better than the offline way.

Hello, if I already used the guide before the nov 1 updates, should I modify the ios using the new method (with Wad Manager 1.5) or not? I did use the other installer to install custom ios202,222, and 223, but I'm still having a few problems with preloader.
Thanks

I think it's the same problems other are experiencing " Got Root! unable to read ..." I tried using preloader v0.29 to v0.30 r4, but I kept freezing at different places so I stopped for a while. I also tried updating from v0.29 using the update command but it froze on downloading file.
I notice that you say to install v0.29 jodi then update to v.30, but how much of v0.29 should I install (at what point should I switch to v.30)?

Thanks in advance.

Just tried the new updated method and all went well except for Bootmii launching from the HBC. Since I'm setting this up for a family member I did not want it to boot when turning on so I installed it as in IOS only. Everything seems to work great...along with using my USB loader which Im loading games right now.
grog.gif

When I load Bootmii from HBC i get a black screen and the wii's disc light pulses..nothing else. Only way out is to pull the power and restart. Doesn't seem to hurt anything. Would it be possible to re-install it as boot2 or is it too late?

Great Jobs Guys!!!!

as soon as you install preloader .29 [black screen, white words]

you can go ahead and install preloader .30 [white screen, black words]
