xzxero I've just registered to say thanks, Followed your guide with little knowlege of soft modding or the Wii and it worked first time.

I've looked all over the internet for a decent set of instructions / guides and this is by far the most complete and its all in one place....

Thank you for your time and effort its greatly appreciated by me....and the kids

do you have to have the NAND backup to get the hombrew channel all im trying to do is hack mario kart wii
no you dont have to have a nand backup for anything.

its created for brick protection.

since you're new here, you definitely want to have that somewhere.

Hi zxero, I've just used the lastest version of your guide to upgrade my previously softmodded wii from 4.0 to 4.2 and I can play .wads no problem but my usb ports don't seem to be recognized anymore.
When I use Neogamma and choose to load from usb I get the 'Mounting USB tries left' message.
Previously would use the USB port on the left and everything worked fone.
I've tried using Neogamma R7 and the new beta version, no luck with both of them.

Can you think of anything I haven't done or I've done wrong that would cause this to happen?

Thanks for the guide btw and double thanks if you can help me out here

If you installed cIOS249 rev18 or 19 then you need Neogamma R8 RC5

added a cIOS.zip to the email reply bot.

it contains hermes v4 & v5 cIOS & waninkokos v17 & v19 cIOS.

Has all the possible bases installed in every slot so knock yourself out if you wanna change it up

does anyone know how to fix an upside down hbc?

Did you get this while restoring the trucha bug?

If so thats because the Homebrew Channel was not reinstalled to use IOS61 instead of IOS36.

did you use the latest version with Multi MOD Manager?

Sorry man im not sure I used your guide last Sunday(14th March) so what ever was in the guide at that point... I already had homebrew installed as I wanted all my mame roms to run on the Wii all 5000 of them
biggrin.gif
....

So er..what ever your guide said at that point is what i did without skipping and step...

Sorry I cant be of any more help.

questions about the new guide update. The update.zip now has cios 249 v19. I followed the previous guide with v17. Can I simply use the WAD Manager to install the new v19 WADs to update them? Or do I need to delete some of the old ones first.

Also is v19 ready with most of the USB Loaders? Last I checked Loader GX and Wiiflow just added Hermes V5 support but nothing "offical" with Wanin's v19.
