xzxero's guide truly is the safest way to mod right now. It gets exhausting trying to explain all of this 10 times a day. If xzxero's guide could at least be stickied we'd have something to link to quicker and have a place set aside to direct these questions to.

haha seriously, i literally have to link back to my guide like at least 10 times a day. im not saying those other guides are useless, just outdated. they were very useful back in their time.

then ask them to update it

I'm not supposed to be designated to the Wii area (I was meant to be removed as I didn't feel I had enough knowledge) but seeing that no other mod seems to care or is too busy I'll stick around. I'm sorry but my knowledge aint that great, I pretty much know what I need to run certain games by following guides but I forget how to do most stuff soon after.

I've pinned "Simplistic mod, by xzxero" because I do see it being very helpful and its more than understandable but I've not unpinned others so if you people here could tell me what is relevent to the scene now and what isn't that would help.

I also think that the "* * * A List of Guides That WILL Help Newbies * * * " is probably grossly outdated so I'll need to update that but I will need a lot of help knowing what needs adding and what needs removing.

I have a kid and Mrs bugging me to do stuff as well plus the fact that my brain is one of those that gets distracted easily, so reminding me via PM if I forget would help get things rolling and will help keep things up to date.

What's wrong with this guide?
http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168890

Not that there's anything wrong with xzxero's guide, just seems there's a lot of hype about it and no others.

I'm only asking because I put a lot of time into that guide and was wondering if something I did wrong causes people not to like it?

I'm of course a little biased towards the one I wrote, but I think I put it together really well and it's really easy to follow. I have had loads of people use it and successfully mod their Wii without any need for questions or clarification.

And I'm all for removing outdated guides. I suggest PMing the respective authors and ask if they wish to save their guide for personal use. I see no sense in keeping them around at all. The new guides will all work perfectly well on any Wii-- new or old.

You'll never stop the n00bs. No matter how clearly we lay things down, they'll still end up making up their own problems and deleting their system menus or IOSs somehow. We can only try to help them see the light.

They should assign a temporary wii mod to deal the requests
would make it a bit easier for the normal mods
smile.gif

There are lots of people that could do it

Deviyl's guide is excellent too. That's our issue here though. When you do a search for a soft-mod guide you get all the outdated ones the goods ones like these fall back to page 10 almost instantly. To be completely honest, the only guides that are really necessary are these two as they are the least invasive and most detailed. I'm not hating on the hard work that went into all the other guides, they are just outdated and cause issues with the new Wiis.

In other words, I completely agree with Deviyl

Yes, xzxero would be a posiblility.
Of course it also depends on if he wants to and if he's online enough. And of course the admins thoughts

@hadrian: maybe you should've renamed it to something like: New easy wii softmod guide (You can leave the All newbies should read part too

)

I've tried to get "the powers that be" to get us someone who knows exactly what is what to be at least a mod. I've mentioned names of people who I feel would be good not only because of knowledge but also because of them not flaming people and being patient with the more "stupid" members but they dont seem to think that we need it.

I'll carry on bugging them.

I think it wouldn't hurt to take one new mod
As I said, there are many good choices for the wii boards. Usually the ones with knowledge are also polite, so..
But of course the admins decide
