Haha, was going to say BenQ before Offtopic posted that link. Looks like I was beat.

Easiest drive to hack, imo.

EDIT: Where in Scotland are you from?

No firmware mods or tools currently exist for this drive. (04/05/07) This also implies that you cannot swap drives if your goes bad or you just want to replace your existing drive with one.

Hitachi is the easiest, every sata chipset can be used!

I thought it all depended on which version of the Hitachi drive you had. Getting into ModeB seems like a hassle to me.

I modded 2 kinds of Hitachi drives that needed seperate hacks, and they worked on my chipset.

BenQ Drives are the easiest to hack.
all you need is a PCI card from ebay that will cost about $10 posted.

You need a chip for some types of Hitachi drives.

QUOTENo firmware mods or tools currently exist for this drive. (04/05/07) This also implies that you cannot swap drives if your goes bad or you just want to replace your existing drive with one.

You have a BenQ for sure. Just google "Textbook 360 Guide" and it's the very first link. Took me about 5 minutes to flash one of these for a friend ;)
EDIT: Assuming you have a VIA sata chipset or Via 6421 PCI sata card in your PC.
