Minecraft won't run on the DS.
The DS won't be able to support the method Minecraft uses to generate the world among other things. The 3DS may be able to run Minecraft if it was ported to it. Perhaps, someone will port Minecraft to the 3DS when the 3DS is hacked and the code for Minecraft is made open-source.

searching through filetrip, and there doesn't seem to be a minecraft homebrew :|

someone is going to have to make one >_>

I'm pretty sure the DS doesn't have enough power to run it.
The DS probably has enough power. It's just that the PC version has a crapload of special effects that require lots of CPU power, but those could be removed for a DS version.

The future

I plan on developing Minecraft until it's a finished complete game, with a downloadable client (with fullscreen mode), custom key re mappings and possibly modding support.

For as long as people enjoy and purchase the game, I will develop extensions after the game is done. These will be free for anyone who has purchased the game.

Once sales start dying and a minimum time has passed, I will release the game source code as some kind of open source. I'm not very happy with the draconian nature of (L)GPL, nor do I believe the other licenses have much merit other than to boost the egos of the original authors, so I might just possibly release it all as public domain.
Maybe once he does that we will be able to work on a Minecraft homebrew for the DS. Till then, we're kinda boned.
isnt java ALWAYS open source? i mean, its compiled but, not really. Lol. you can easily see his code and edit it and everything.

why is everyone thought minecraft for DS would mean the same minecraft version as with pc version, well certainly DS won't have any power to do that, but a different, DS optimised version of minecraft certainly doable

just as there's COD for pc, there's also a different version optimised for DS. (developer would be crazy to directly port pc version to DS

i gues this is what this guy trying to say to reply the other member comparing minecraft ram usage on PC with ds capability.

Okay then.
1. Fix your grammar.
2. RAM isn't everything.
3. The DS version is not even the same game. Have you even played CoD (on any system)?

What, so someone tells you how much RAM is needed, what are you going to do? Chuck some RAM into the DS?

At this point there is no such homebrew.

It doesn't look like there will be any time soon.
