Gaming Minecraft(help)

Im playing on my friend's server...and it loads terrain really slow

Any reasons why this is happening? I'm running on Core Duo and GT 9400 as my graphics processor.

Could my internet be the problem? It got slow recently,but my friend's server is running on his pc which is near.(My friends can play just fine though)

How does Minecraft work 'offline' (to play offline just put in a wrong password and you get the option)
If it plays fine/fast - then you'll know it's not your PC

Even if your friend is 'near-by' - perhaps next door - yet using the internet to connect, it doesn't mean that he is going straight to your house

Most probably he is connecting to his ISP (which may be different from yours) - going half way around the world - then going through your ISP (if it's a different ISP) before getting to your PC

Have you checked your Internet speed by any chance ?? (many people recommend testing using http://www.speedtest.net/) - you may have a high ping & it's that that may be causing your problems

Either what CannonFoddr said, or your friend's connection sucks.
Minecraft needs a pretty high upload speed to be able to play without lagg.
Ever heard of the Epic Win Box? It's hosted in an actual data center and it still has a chat delay. Last time I check, that is, and that was quite a while ago.
Also, it could be because of your friend's computer the server is running on. Crappy hardware, multiple programs on at the same time besides the server, amount of RAM, etc.

If other people can play fine, it's quite obvious.
The problem is on your end.

My pc can run fine on single player...so it's probably my upload speed?

We use the same ISP

if you both using the same ISP (including same speed) then its too crappy to host a minecraft server

I play fine on SMP
