Sucks that Detector rails are broken to hell...
Also unpowered Booster rail doesn't seem to slow carts down like it says it should.

Yep and ladders now make 2 rather then 1 to compensate.....

unfortunately...I have a lot of ladder fixing to do
I got to fix a lot of ladders. I need to make a hell of a ton of ladders.

They actually don't work? Fail.

This update is okay. The booster rails don't work as well as "fan-made" boosters, but I suppose they will get the job done if you're low on space.

much easier, all you need is a lever switch and you can always leave it on

I already got all achievements except for the minecart one, I traveled well over 1km in one run and still didnt get it

Minecraft Beta 1.5
* Weather (rain, snow, thunder)
* Statistics
* Achievements
* Detector rail
* Booster rail
* Performance improvements
Hmm - actually there seems to be MORE to this update than first thought....

The Weather is apparently 'Dynamic' & not just there 'graphically'
When it rains a single lower block may be filled to simulate puddles.
You’ll see that your crops get wet
wolves shake their fur
fires are put out by mother nature herself.
It’s been reported that you have a higher chance of catching fish in the rain as well.

You’ll now also have to watch out for thunder, which will occur rarely and randomly, possibly setting wooden structures on fire, or turning innocent little pigs into Zombie Pigmen

Also snowfall will cover the ground in a light snow layer and regrow ice on a lake which may have been destroyed.
Graphically - Saplings now have 'different' appearances, so you can now grow different types of trees [birch and spruce] each tree will drop their own unique saplings, instead of just the one type
[title:Other things that have changed:]
Axes now do more damage than normal tools
Crafting a ladder now produces 2 ladders
You can now change your GUI Size with three settings
The option for Advanced OpenGL for fancy graphics cards
Redstone dust can now be placed on snow
Wolves are more common
Dropped items flow in moving water at a faster speed
Pigs that die by burning (not by lightning) will now drop cooked porkchops instead of regular porkchops

& apparently when holding shift and clicking on an item when looking at a chest, it now teleports into your inventory – no more clicking-and-dragging

although i do agree on that, i have to say that if you allready see whats it like, and it doesnt catch ya,

what do you do then? i personally drop it.

the first impression sort of speak.

To get a good feel of a game like minecraft, you have to play it for a solid 30 minutes. It also helps if you learn how to do stuff beforehand.
You remember the "PokémonCreepyBlack Minecraft Server" that never took off?

Quite vividly actually.

I hope they eventually port Minecraft to other platforms, it would be fun to play on the 3DS actually.

This update is kinda cool, though the rain is irritating as hell at night so you can't see anything without lights.

You have to be 1km in distance from where you started.

yeah I got it now, took a bit longer then I thought
lucky I had invedit, went through a ton of track

Huh, I haven't gotten any whether at all so far, and I was playing for over an hour. Also, has anyone with a slower pc noticed the 'huge performance improvements'?

IMO INVedit makes the game increddibly boring.

I have INVedit worlds, though.

that was the only one I use invedit for
the rest were pretty easy, the pig was slightly hard, since I didnt want to wast the few saddles I obtained from dungeons

Hang on that's Cheating

Using 'invedit' to get multiple 'stuff' (didn't even know about this until I read about it here & I googled it)

You should do it the 'proper way' (mind you - I HAVE lost one of my only 2 saddles that I have, so MIGHT have to cheat to get THAT achievement).
I think though that getting saddles should be made a little easier (just not through simple crafting)

How's this for a suggestion - If a COW get hit by lightning it turns into a mutant 'cow' (perhaps a greenish colour ??) & you 'tip it' you get a special 'leather', THEN you can craft this special leather to get a saddle

I read somewhere there WAS a MOD to craft a saddle that involved 3 (or was it 5) leathers & some steel

I wouldlnt say cheating
more in the sense of making the single player more interesting

I played legit single player for months but got bored
I made a save backup and went to town with TNT destroying my creations and leaving nothing but a huge crater

or making roller coasters ect...
