D) there are years worth of reports of people finding that factory resetting does not erase logs

F) If your question is what is safe, the current understand from the community, based on testing from when the mig switch raised is as follows

- private dumps are safe
- public dumps flag you for a ban. This is regardless of if you play online or not

To answer your question, a public dump is one that has a certificate that has been flagged as "pirated" it seems this is done if the same certificate appears across many different switches, but the exact threshold is unknown. It could also be that Nintendo downloads the public dumps and flags them manually. We don't know.

To answer "what causes a ban" it would be inserting a mig with a pirated game. Maybe you have your launch the game, I'm not sure about that, but your console logs everything. Your system will get flagged and then when the next wave goes out, your console is banned. That's how it's worked forever

Anybody knows how the S2 enhancements on S1 games (not the ones with paid upgrades) works?

I think that we could modify what is sent via local update and activate those enhancements on it without requiring a second S2

I know, but we do have a way to transfer updates to the S2 (via a OFW S1 or a CFW S1) and we do know that something has changed in 20.X.X because some updates won't work on that version but they do on 18.1.0 (like SMG 1+2)

So if the S2 is accepting updates from a 18.1.0 Switch 1 that it shouldn't maybe it's worth looking into.

If we know what the S2 looks in a S1 Game or Update to enable the enhancements (some suggets that is a Flag in the ticket) maybe, we could replicate that and update Switch 1 Games to the S2 with the enhancements enabled without requiring a second Switch 2.

Update data can't be modified or malformed in anyway either unless you know how to sign them

now without owning a S2 (or having a friend with one) locks you out of playing some Switch 1 games without updates or playing them with the enhancements.

i think main difference is conceptual.... someone talking about "a new wave massive ban" instead of normal ban for using mig, online game, public dumps etc....

there is no news about a new massive ban ( a user was talking about it few post ago).... bans will still going on every day for using mig with public dumps or going online.... but its not good to talk about new ban wave when its not real.

How are you doing game S1 game updates on your S2? There are 60 something pages and a lot of the info may be old or incorrect. Since you're having good success with using MIG on S2 and public dumps I want to know your process. Thanks!
