Am I correct in assuming that you can still use a Mig in Switch 2 for updating the games, and this can be done safely online, as long as you don't launch the game?
As long as you put the Switch 2 in Airplane Mode before launching the game?

That is how it is on switch 1. So we are hopeful.

Can I ask about two things:
1) Is it 100% certain there's no way to update the Mig Flash safely to 1.2.0 in a Switch 2, even in airplane mode? I don't have access to a Switch 1, so this matters.
2) Is it safe to play torrented/downloaded games as long as the console is in airplane mode? And then connecting online after ejecting the Mig.

These are good questions. (1) I certainly would not insert a < 1.2.0 mig in a switch 2. (You need to borrow a switch 1, it takes 2 seconds to update). (2) Again this is how it is on switch 1 so we are hopeful.

1. Never update the MigFlash below firmware 1.2.0 on a Switch 2. Even updating in airplane mode will get you banned. You need a Switch 1 OR a MigFlash-Dumper. Personally i do all firmware updates on my Switch 1 becasue the process always throws an error.
2. It is not save to play torrented/downloaded games in airplane mode. This will be logged and the console will be banned the moment you go online again.

does it have to be a modded switch lite? I was planning to get an unbanned ofw lite, then push those updates to my offline switch 2 which is on 20.1.1
How will the necessary game update get to your ofw lite so that it can then be transferred to the Switch 2?
You can install any update on a hacked Switch without installing the game itself. On an unhacked Switch, you must have purchased the game to be able to download the update or use Mig with dumps from a torrent (and then download the update from the eshop through them, but you can get banned on Switch 1 for this).
You can run goldleaf on switch 2?
No. Goldleaf can only be installed on a hacked Switch 1. Switch 2 is not hacked yet.

Really? This is an obvious one. It was already true for the Switch 1.

Acutally there are several reports of people (there is a know torrent from a russian forum, files got all certs included so these are "full rips") claiming their Switch 1 doesn't get banned (as long as you stay in airplane while playing) though they are using these pirated games and also do update them.

as far as I know it just blanket ignores the nsp ticket to write its own instead, because duckbill is lazy and this is an easy way to fix how incompetent the scene has been with writing tickets

it didn't use to be that way, dbi in older versions just installed the nsp ticket directly, then master key 0x10 happened and it became a problem. duckbill's solution was to ignore the ticket and rewrite it every time on install as a way to fix bad fake tickets

to his credit, it works, but it breaks the use case where you would want to share updates with other consoles that don't have cfw

it would be better to check the ticket signature and only replace the ticket is the signature is bad, but that's additional work and it's his program he works on in his free time and he does what he wants
Switch 2 accepts updates without a ticket, remove a ticket from an update and submit it with 18.1.0, switch 2 accepts it.

Edit: After checking, I didn't realize my installer was generating ticket, but Switch 2 accepted the update with the ticket generated.

that would imply you've found a way to get the switch 2 to accept (and run?) modified unsigned content, in which case you definitely should present your findings to the scene because you've managed to do something that shouldn't be possible

Does this count as unsigned?

no, because it's running on your switch 2

I'm telling you, you didn't just find a way to magically run titlekey encrypted contents without the ticket. you have a valid ticket left over from a previous installation that's being used

if you think you did, then feel free to announce your findings somewhere that matters

a nsp that doesnt need a ticket is by definition unsigned, because the title key encryption is removed and replaced by standard encryption. switch 2 will never accept this. dbi also makes it clear that no ticket was found in your nsp and therefore it couldnt install it. awoo simply ignores that, and it just happens to work anyway because you still have a valid ticket left over from a previous installation. it's not magically generating a ticket with a valid signature and the correct title key

but clearly you know better

After everything analyzing, I realized the XCI dump I used was actually a SuperXCI. I loaded it in MIG and noticed it contains a patch — version 1.0.1 — with an embedded inside.
So the system is using that to validate the update. I had initially overlooked it, thinking the flow was clean, but it turns out the validation comes from within the dump itself.

Do you think mig firmware could somehow delete the logs that nintendo stores on the switch 2? that would be a way to skip the bans

the bans have been a little too quiet so it could be in waves or MIG team really made "undetectable" FW. They have yet to update their site so idk if their testing rig got banned or not. Good on yall for playing with the device on switch 2

Switch 2 bans for using Mig were only on firmware 1.1.9, since it was originally intended exclusively for Switch 1. As soon as the firmware was updated to 1.2.0 (specifically for Switch 2), there were no more bans.
At the moment, it is safe to play Mig on firmware 1.2.0/1.2.1/1.2.2, but how long this will last is unknown.
