Hacking Micro SD card question

What does the "class" mean in terms of Micro SD cards? I hear people say class6 or class2 are fast and so on but i don't know what that means. Plz help.

SDHC cards have SD Speed Class Ratings defined by the SD Association. The SD Speed Class Ratings specify the following minimum write speeds based on "the best fragmented state where no memory unit is occupied":[15]

* Class 2: 2 MB/s
* Class 4: 4 MB/s
* Class 6: 6 MB/s

So basically, higher class is faster.
