'Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater' online multiplayer mode 'Fox Hunt' goes live today

The wait is over for Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater players as its much-anticipated online multiplayer mode launches today. Available as a free update, this Fox Hunt mode deploys up to 12 players into the iconic jungle for a tactical “hide-and-seek” experience.

A new trailer was aired to accompany the launch, which you can view above.

As an aspiring member of the covert unit ‘FOX’, players must endure survival-style missions and procure weapons and equipment in the field against other operatives. Up to 12 players can dive into the iconic tactical espionage action with two different game modes.

Survival Capture:
The iconic Kerotan frogs continue their elusiveness in this tense game mode. Find and secure more hidden frogs to guarantee victory. As the match progresses, their numbers will dwindle and lead to intense clashes against enemy operatives.

Survival Intrude:
A covert assignment where operatives must utilize stealth and survival elements in designated zones to progress through multiple phases. As time advances, dedicated zones reduce ensuring stealth and positioning is vital to victory.

Each player is equipped with an “AT-CAMO” suit to help employ advanced stealth tactics. This suit allows them to instantly alter their camouflage patterns to suit the terrain. Operatives are also given “Naked Sense” to help detect enemies and items.

Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater's Fox Hunt mode is now live on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.

I really enjoyed Delta for its nostalgia factor, but, after finishing the game, I really don't want to back there this soon. Since the game is very short, I belive most people that bought it at lauch already finished it, and very few will actually try this new mode.

Konami is doing good things ... Silent Hill F, MGS Delta.
But of course they where utter crap for years, so people really don't think that momentum will continue.
I for one really hope it does as they still have various (mostly dormant) IP's I would love to see something new out of.

Still strange to hear about stuff like this and it not involving Kojima. Then again, maybe it's better that Kojima is finally free of MGS.

And with everyone crapping on Konami lately it's good it sold over 1 million copies within the first week.

It's not like Konami doesn't deserve the crap they get.

They basically told all their fans to shove their money up their asses because Pachinko was better, then the Pachinko laws changed and absolutely screwed them and they realised they had no regular games division to make up for it because they shipped whoever was left off to the pachinko mines.

Now they've been scrambling around and outsourcing whatever they can in hopes of convincing the fans to reach back up their ass and pull the money out they were told to shove up there to hopefully cover the loss from the pachinko changes. Funny thing is, it's actually working.

Kojima appears to be happy with his current job. I don't think he will ever work with Konami again unless they offer him a huge sum of money and total freedom with a project like MGS6.

The way I see it, Kojima is making money and working on new franchises, so I just don't foresee a return. The Metal Gear Solid 3 remake made money without Kojima, so it proved that Konami could continue without him. The thing is, Konami's on a mostly remake/remaster/ports path, so they can coast on existing games and franchises for a while. Even the MSX Metal Gear games can be reimagined in full 3D, so the next 10 years or so are pretty much laid out.

If, say, Kojima's next few games bomb, he'd likely consider pivoting to Konami because MGS would make consistent money for him, as it did years ago. Theoretically, anything can happen.

What a sad turn of events that was. Losing one of the most influential companies in the industry made it clear that the 7th gen wasn't going to be like the others.
