My intention was merely to raise the issue that data transfer across an adapter would likely be slightly less than a direct (non fake) Pro Duo access and that optimising the quality of the cards would be good if you wanted to preserve speed. Some plugins are temperamental about slower transfer rates.

the point you keep missing/ignoring is that while the "fake" cards are slower than legit cards, they are fast enough for everything on the PSP

Tragically you seem to be completely unaware of both the IPL partitioning issues that fake sticks may have and the associated issues with some plugins during initial boot. But then i suppose since i'm missing/ignoring the pro's of a dodgy fake stick which may corrupt my data at any moment it'd be easy to overlook the problems i raise.

If you're happy buying fake sticks, good for you.

Okay, after looking around I noticed FAST6191 answered to another thread earlier explaining how the ChickHEN method works. I just installed it and it's running fine

half the speed to be exact

one of my friends bought a fake one
I hacked his PSP and put GTA:VCS on
we were both playing it and saw his 1GB sony he bought from amazon was running a the game lot slower and laggier then my 1GB card (textures took longer to load ect...)

then I found it was card was fake from the magic gate information in the PSP XMB (he thought it was real and so did I until I checked it)

moral of the story, dont cheap out on flash memory / buying fake memory
very slow speeds, tendency to corrupt data, very short life span, no warranty / company support

that is not true, and you know it

but again, it comes back to what I was saying

it doesn't matter if it's half the speed (they're not) when it's still fast enough...

it's like having 2 cars, one will do 200kmph and the other will do 400kmph

you're still not going to go faster than 100kmph, so it's not an issue

now, for the fakes that have their sizes fudged, those are definitely bad news

check the speed tests on the previous page with the 3 cards I had

the real sandisk 4GB was pretty much double everything except for random access which there was only a 0.2ms difference compared to your fake 4GB sony stick

it is an issue as the PSP can get the data a lot faster and load if you were using a real stick

that's not quite true either

the PSP needs to access data at a certain speed to run smoothly

anything beyond that is just benchmarking ePeen juice.

if the fakes ran slow enough that you couldn't stream games with them, then yeah that'd be a huge issue

read speeds are generally just fine on the fakes, it's the write speeds that are generally really slow (aka only affecting loading stuff onto them initially)

well I'm glad at least one person gets what I was saying... I wasnt attacking anyone like a few seemed to think...
