I've put together this group to display interesting snacks and drinks I've come across. I'm inviting other users to post and share. Not everything has to be candy, soda or unhealthy items alike. Most of mine will be but I don't recommend anyone being like me. :-)

They say oyster sauce is fish sauce for people who don't like fish. In that case this is oyster sauce for people who don't want oysters. It's made from smoked mushrooms. Why they don't just call it mushroom sauce I don't know. Anyway.

It's thick, rich, salty, not overly sweet, and amazing. Great if you're stir-frying meats, but most of the time I just use it as dip for dim sum or random dumpling-like stuffs.

If you like thick syrupy teriyaki sauce you will like this. Even if you don't, you might like this. I highly recommend you give it a try.

Mushroom ketchup sounds new. Do love mushrooms.
It's quite old actually, it was created somewhere in the 17th or 18th century to replicate whatever ketchup was at the time (a fish sauce of some sort).

Here's a great video by Townsends for history and a recipe if you want to make it at home:

It's from these recipe recreation attempts that the Worcestershire sauce was also created, it's nice how it went full circle back to being a anchovy based sauce.

I personally love the Worcestershire stuff a lot, but I'm sure mushroom ketchup is even better if I take Townsends words for facts, haha!
