Thinking about buying this from amazon but i recall reading this can only read one gamecube controller is that still the case because if it is amazon should not advertise it working on switch. I'm hoping its not the case because I'm thinking about buying 3rd party gamecube controllers.

Solution
when pokken was announced... mayflash had modified their adapter to work as a pokken controller... it just works for 1 player and didn't work that at all.
after that nintendo updates the switch to 4.0.0 and add full gamecube adapter support.
I guess the description is outdated
I bought the Mayflash GameCube adapter about 4 months ago now, and it works great. The only thing is that I haven’t tried it with more than 2 gamecube controllers at once.

here are the things that I can confirm:

Wii u mode on wii u:
just for super smash bros 4 (4 players)

wii u mode on switch:
like a pro controller without ZL, home, and (-) (4 players)

PC mode on pc:
works as directx input (4 players)

also pc mode on ps3
works as ps2 controller without L2 and select (4 players)

Thanks for the info. I have a follow up question, does anyone know of any good 3rd party gamecube controllers. I only have three controllers but one of them the A button barely works. Thinking about buying 2-3 controllers.
