just checked in with him. he confirmed that he is getting this error after opening the menu and loading the keys.bin file

EDIT: made my own keys.bin, and it worked. now when he tries to load an amiibo bin file...

It didn't work the apps doesn't recognize the cards I don't know what it's damaged, the cards or my phone

Have you turned on the NFC connection in Settings?

Anyone got the namiio discs that could report the results of writing to them using tagmo? I am thinking those could be a good replacement for multiple one-time only scans (e.g. costumes in MK8 / YWW) if they can be re-written with android, not with their expensive hardware. The discs cost $6 each (~ 18 NTAG215 tags), but only come in pack of 3's - not sold individually.
I am guessing there may be special commands with their usb writer to change the locked pages of namiio discs. However I could not find much info on this.
